The New Guy

The New Guy (1/8)

  1. I kinda figured. We know what he wrote about Veidt is true, but it'd be hard to imagine most people saw him as anything but his world's version of a Birther or 9/11 Truther.
  2. I'm certainly enjoying the show, but it doesn't quite scream 'Watchmen' to me. Just watched episode seven:
  3. Agreed! I wrote reviews for each one, and by #7 I'm really into 'When did he set all these up and shouldn't he be better occupied doing something else right now?' (Though admittedly the premise for the traps against Fake Jigsaw is kind of a good idea.) Yeah, I too am happy to recap #8 for The Show if it ever happens. (I'm a sucker. I know I'll watch it anyway.)
  4. Yeah, the Arrowsignal was an actual flaming arrow. So unlike the Batsignal, it only worked if Ollie and/or Roy were looking out the right window at that second. Also unlike the Batsignal, it had a significant potential for injury or property damage. (What happens if they need Green Arrow during a Total Fire Ban?)
  5. 'DeSaad, report to the Fire Pits! I have a new plan to conquer Earth and New Genesis!' 'Sorry, guv, I've actually got a bit of flu today. But I'm sending along my Number One Guy.'
  6. In my head, it's been 'Man of Steel Meanderings'. And I've been looking forward to the future instalments because I so enjoy a good Earth-2.Net: The Show movie recap. (Also not going to rush you. If you weren't enjoying it and did it just because the listenership hurried you into it, neither you nor we would get anything good out of it.)
  7. I've only just managed to get back into these forums by connecting via my mobile phone rather than my home Internet. When I try via home, the site tells me I'm banned. I would assume a 'true' banning would come with a warning and be via my login rather than IP, so I'm not concerned that I've been booted off. What I am wondering is if there are whole IPs that have been blocked for whatever reason, preventing (previously) me and perhaps others logging in? Or maybe it's an exceedingly random glitch.

  9. Granted, it does have The Enterprise Incident...and OK, I've just burned off all my knowledge of Season Three.
  10. Aw, no way! I was just remind myself of this film a week or two ago, and here it turns up on The Show. Sweet!
  11. Ahh, another podcast almost the exact same length as the walk I took. Excellent! I knew I couldn't be the only one left unmoved by a crawl that described the thrill of taxes and trade embargos. Hey, kids! Economics! I will be 'that person', though - we've had elected monarchs in the real world (and the system continues in some places), so elected queens are an actual thing. Don't think they're usually fourteen years old, though. (Though I just looked up Natalie Portman's birthdate and she would have been 16-17 during filming. So if she really is supposed to be fourteen, it's not quite the case of Dawson Casting I thought. She must've just looked more grown-up.) In the spirit of being competely contrary, when Shmi says 'there was no father', I choose not to interpret it as a miraculous conception. It's just a euphemism for something like 'he was a sailor'.
  12. I agree. I just listened and think it's off to a great start! A clear and good choice for a segment.

    Episode 36

What was the song at the end? It was pretty awesome.
  14. ...and congratulations on the Big Five-Oh-Oh. This is really something. Lots of podcasts don't get to even 100 episodes. Hell, some don't even make it to five! I can't quite remember how I found the Earth-2.net network...I know I stumbled across For Your Ears Only and World's Finest Podcast completely separately and didn't know of the 'common origin' for some time. When it all came together for me, though? That's lost in the mists of time. Pooling so many of the recurring segments on this, I thought was great - I'll probably check out a few segments I hadn't before thanks to this. I was really glad to hear a whole segment on Superman's radio show - that's something that doesn't get enough love from modern fans. (Fun fact: Apparently there was an Australian 'remake' of the radio show around the same time. I've never heard it, though.) Mike, and all the crew, thank you for man hours of good listening - now just #500, not just The Show, but the whole network. You are plainly very driven, creative and clever people.
