I miss seeing Star Trek as a western. I still get excited at the end of Star Trek VI when the Enterprise flies off into the sunset. If there was a Khan show I would like to see what happened after Space Seed and watch the events of Ceti Alpha. Maybe there could be a time where Khan wanted to live off the land but the earworm that killed McGyvers sent him into a rage. I am seeing him keeping the earworm in a jar near him as he is sending out orders to build weapons. Going from hunting tools to firearms to explosives to nuclear. Maybe he hears faulty information that lets him believe that Kirk is on Ceti Alpha VI and orders the bombs to go off. The disaster turns Ceti Alpha V into a wasteland and all the time he keeps the jar and blames Kirk.

Every time I read how Poe has toxic masculinity I am reminded of middle school. Whenever the girl classmates were fawning over a singer or actor, a guy I knew, would always interject "I heard he's gay!" I can see a grown up version of him calling Poe toxic masculine in the hopes that it was like calling someone gay in the 90's. ... that experience clouded my judgment, all I see is jealousy.

Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero. If Edgar Cantero turns out to be Alex Hirsch, in disguise, I would not be surprised. Meddling Kids is not a book, it is a nostalgia gateway drug. However unlike Ernest Cline, I didn't feel like I had the nostalgia waved in front of me. You can enjoy it without knowing the references and homages. Researching the book has made me realize that I missed most of the references in the story. I was just happy that I realized the Arkham Asylum jailbreak "Werewolf" was a reference to Lovecraft rather than Batman. I was going to call this "what the Scooby Doo movie should have been" because watching those films always made me feel like the creative team behind the movie hated the series. Meddling Kids celebrates the books and shows it is based off of. Having a group of four misfit kids using elements from their childhood to battle an eldritch abomination. At the same time the characters are not the starry eyed dreamers they once were. One is a crestfallen drunk, one is a fugitive, one is committed, and the other committed suicide. The only "normal" character is the dog, who is the great grandson of the original detective team. There are unanswered questions and parts open to interpretation. Like is the crazy one really seeing the ghost of his dead friend or is he hallucinating? That only makes it fun. I really enjoyed it.

I like how the Fifa played Ennio Morricone's "The Ecstasy of Gold" as the entrance music.

I agree, but feel like a hypocrite when I admit I enjoyed the Teen Titans Go movie. The whole thing was a sacred cow barbecue, completely unapologetically irreverent.

Real Genius: At first I was afraid that this was going to be a "smart nerd vs. dumb jock" story but was pleasantly surprised to see it ended up being nerd vs. famous scientist (nerd vs. geek?). It made me miss the days where nerds would build their own products as opposed to shows like "The Big Bang Theory" where all the nerd gadgets are product placement. It feels like there should be more stories of misfits building their own things, now that maker spaces are becoming more popular. I am also seeing lots of middle and high schoolers building and programming robots from Dean Kamens F.I.R.S.T. Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children: Asa Butterfield and Terrence Stamp worked wonderfully off of each other. I know Mr. Stamp has been in a few Burton films but I was glad to see it wasn't the same cast of Jonny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter etc.... Samuel L. Jackson dominated every scene he was in. I now might read the book to see if his servants looked so much like Slenderman.

I would never have thought of using Claude Debussy for a kaiju movie. I used to love that song. Then in 2008 it was dubbed "the Twilight Song." Godzilla took back what Twilight stole from me.

Here are some random ones I remember. Falling off a fire escape, before I hit the ground I feel proud for executing a perfect goofy holler. I was in a mansion that apparently was owned by Darksydephil we run out in terror as the mansion is struck by lighting and the clouds form the face of Robert Stack. playing a mysterious vhs tape I see a woman in a buzz cut and a purple and gold dhoti wrap. She instructs the viewer to rub ground beef until the blood coagulates into a blob. Then hold the blob and jump on your left foot 32 times, but do not look in to the eyes of the cloaked figures. I follow the instructions and find that with every jump I go north farther and the distance increases exponentially with every jump. Starting from my poorly lit house I am now jumping down the main road as it is dark and cloudy overhead. I see the cloaked figures going south. They look to me and intense bright lights come from underneath their hoods. Resisting the urge to not look at them is getting weaker. Then I wake up. Now that I shared it, Alejandro Jodorowsky will probably tell me my subconscious plagiarized a story he is working o

Today a little boy who couldn't be more than seven years old walked up to me and told me a secret. Never talk to a cowboy when the lights are out. I bet in ten years I will start a business, my business partner will help fund it. Later I realize he got the money from organized crime. using what we have and scraping together my savings I will pay back the mobsters. They send a thug to meet in a dark parking lot. After giving the money back the figure in the dark reveals that he kills when the lights are out. The thug step out to have been the boy all along. His fellow members call him by his alias "cowboy." While losing consciousness I realize that is what he meant.
