  1. Yes, you can help influence not only the film Pandy & I use as the joint review, but the homework we assign each other to plot the range of their career. As announced in Episode 102 - our subject will be Nicolas Cage. Again.

The Year of Redux will see us take on ANY* Nicolas Cage film, regardless of whether they have been covered on Comic Reel-ief, Pulp Diction or anything else. It will still be a pick from Ian, a pick from Pandy and a third movie, although the disclaimer of the other brother not having seen their sibling's pick is being disapplied for 2024.

Pandy & I will take an executive decision on what makes the show soon so get your ideas in before then!

*We won't be covering National Treasure, Leaving Las Vegas and Drive Angry.

  2. Raiders of the Lost Ark vs The Matrix

The Muppet Movie vs One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest

Empire Strikes Back vs LOTR: The Two Towers

    Melancholia vs Hellraiser

Possibly had this one before, but sod it - tastes change:

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm vs Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker

If this is late, sorry. Making a suggestion that is partially Will being a troll and partially serious. A lot of Amy Adams's early career were roles where she guest starred on teen shows on Fox and The WB. During that times, she starred in a pilot based off a recent popular film that got picked up but then was canceled before it aired. Fox decided, since they had two episodes worth of footage, to bring the cast back to shoot some additional footage and release it straight to video.

So, I'm proposing Cruel Intentions 2. It reflect an early part of her career that normally wouldn't be able to be covered while also showing how far she had to go.

We're literally recording tonight, so you've made it!

I'll keep my powder dry as to how we cover AA's early career next month until this episode goes live, but it will be addressed with reference to your suggestion.

  4. So I watched it in two chunks - live up until Ospreay/Takeshita, then finished off whilst WFH Monday morning on 5 hours sleep (max).

Frustrated by the booking of Christian/Garcia and FTR/BCC, although both were good matches. Kingston/Danielson was excellent, Scramble match wasn't (nor was the Women's title match). OC/Strong was a sleeper candidate for match of the night - enhanced by KOR at the end - whereas Ospreay/Takeshita was the actual MOTN and the main event was pulled off perfectly. I went into this thinking the Bucks should win for torch-passing reasons, but honestly, it was the right result and hit all the right notes. Fucking Darby Allin clearly doesn't want to live past 35....

World title match slightly got lost in the shuffle despite being the co-main, but it was a great story and I'm glad the winner won....not sure how spoiler-rific I should be outside of the main event.

Definitely one of AEW's best - Top 5, certainly.

  5. In spite of my better judgement - the PPV is likely to end 4 hours before my work day on Monday begins - I'm watching Revolution live. The card is magnificent and whilst I never really grew up with Sting, I'm fully on board with his retirement send-off.

I've not seen Madame Web and really don't expect to, but from all reports it sounds like we've got a real Catwoman 2004 on our hands. Not like Morbius, which was overrated in its badness, but truly especially lousy.

But I had fun watching Catwoman.  Granted, I had years of 'hype' around it (I watched it for the first time last year).  It is a bad film, but people were still trying.  I can't say the same for Madame Web.  It is just so phoned in: the acting, effects, script, editing.

This is very on note for reasons that will become abundantly clear soon ( @Pan-dub)

It's been pretty divisive. The film club I'm in, the discussion has been all over the place. It's like #12 of the year for me but I know people who feel the same as Des.

Oh I knew it was divisive. I just thought the dividing line was that one camp of people loved it and the other was weirded out by what happens. Des is the only person I've seen calling it the worst movie of 2023.

And I should note that I'm not judging anyone in that I haven't seen it myself.

Office Christmas Party: a movie I never knew existed from a few years ago featuring Justin Bateman, Kate McKinnon, Jennifer Anniston, TJ Miller and the girl that John Mulaney left his wife for. You know, Psylocke from that X-Men film.

    That would be Olivia Munn.

Saltburn: absolute dogshit. My vote for worst of the year.

Haven't seen it, but I think you're on an island on that one.
