Dan
Now that looks good! Is wheelchair guy gonna be Zoom? I'm getting something sinister off him. No; Eddie "Eobard isn't a name" Thawne is a detective under Iris' dad.
Stavros
Ah but he could be Hunter Zolomon, wheelchair bound ally of Wally West and susequently Zoom II. Which was one of the best villain origins ever in my opinion.
dc20willsave
I hope the latter. I always preferred Zoom and his entire twisted methodology of making heroes better through tragedy. I co-opted it for a character in a tabletop game I was in. It also works better than bringing the insane amounts of time travel in that are necessary with Reverse Flash. Dan
Also, the name "Professor Zoom, the Reverse Flash of the 25th Century" is possibly the greatest, most Silver Agiest comic book name of all time. If he is not referred to as such, in full, this show is an abject failure.
Koete
If Captain Cold is not in his wonderfully dorky costume, this show is an abject failure.
Dan
In all seriousness, I'm looking forward to seeing how (if) they build and handle the Rogues. That has the potential to be something not seen on TV very often.
JasonC
Naw, still going to be crap overall. I thought I was the one down on DC media...
KnightWing
I think that was the joke.
Dan
John Wesley Shipp, the original Barry Allen from the 1990s, is playing Barry's father.
dc20willsave
That is pretty damn awesome.
Davedevil
So, Mark Waid loved the pilot. Not only is the #Flash pilot EXCELLENT, but (for this) the dead-mom retcon doesn't grate. Great show, and Tom Cavanagh is astounding. — Mark Waid (@MarkWaid) May 23, 2014 @gberlanti @AJKreisberg Seriously, you two. #Flash is really, really good. You made it work. Thanks for remembering he ENJOYS HIS WORK. — Mark Waid (@MarkWaid) May 23, 2014
Stavros
But that makes me feel like Flash is an alternate universe Dawson.
dc20willsave
Well, still, he'll probably have at least a slightly more dignified death than dropping an ice cream cone
Stavros
That was hilarious.
Dan
Okay, so, sometimes pilots turn up online. In unrelated news, I was watching something on TV tonight, and in one scene was a busted up cage with the nameplate "GRODD" on it. Wendee: What's a Grodd? Me: He's a superintelligent evil gorilla! Wendee: Oh. Me: From Gorilla City! Wendee: ... Okay, I'm out. (leaves room)
KnightWing
This has happened to me multiple times: Friend: "Have you read this new comic?" Me: "No, I wasn't gonna, actually." Friend: "It has Gorilla Grodd—" Me: "WOAH WAIT WHAT GIVE ME THAT."
KnightWing
Also, that pilot is PHENOMENAL. Loved it from beginning to end.
NightAngle04
The pilot is already out?
dc20willsave
The pilot is already out? It got leaked. It was very fun. My main worries about anything involving Barry Allen is that it's going to be boring but it felt like they came up with this interesting character and just decided they needed to call him Barry. Flashfan1
Do we have a link? Or was it already taken down?
Flashfan1
nevermind... found it!
Flashfan1
Finally got around to watching it... and holy shit that was awesome! I'm a huge fan of The Flash (as you may have noticed...) and I have been excited for this show for a long time... but at the same time I was SUPER nervous that it would end up sucking... but thankfully it was great! (at least the first episode was... let's hope it stays this good...) And Grant Gustin was amazing! I was also impressed with the CGI... for it being a pilot episode, it was surprisingly good... (still obviously television... but good nonetheless...) And the ending was cool! Okay, I'm done...
KnightWing
Regarding that ending... I noticed braille patterns on the walls in that secret room, and figured, "THERE MUST BE SECRET MESSAGES WRITTEN ON THEM", so I then proceeded to try learning braille and translating the walls. Then I discovered that the braille is just the letters "Z" and "Q" repeated and rotated randomly. Then I found out that that entire wall texture is just a generic wall tile you can buy online. Yeah...
JackFetch
I liked the pilot a lot better than Arrow, but the supporting characters are pretty forgettable like Arrow.
KnightWing
I actually liked the supporting cast quite a bit. The only one that didn't really interest me was Caitlin, but knowing where she goes in the comics is counterbalancing that.
