RSS
When you think of Flash Gordon, what comes to mind: someone jumping out of an airplane sans parachute before engaging beast-men in three-on-one fights, or someone standing around his mother's kitchen eating scrambled eggs before teaching beast-men how to chew gum? In this episode, Dan and Mike discuss both scenarios, as they look at the 1936 Flash Gordon serials starring Buster Crabbe, as well as the pilot episode of the 2007 Flash Gordon television series starring Eric Johnson. dc20willsave
I want to say that Flash aired the same nights as BSG and Doctor Who. My only exposure was the minute before "The Cylons Were Created by Man..." and a clip from The Soup of Vultan. I really need to track down that last one... Donomark
Totally right about the warning not to try and binge these kinds of serials. I discovered the Batman and Robin serial back in college and had a blast with them, but they were way too long and eventually defeated me. They're long and repetitive by nature.

I even felt the need to cut the video so others can experience it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcNqbYV1-Ss Edited October 24, 2016 by dc20willsave

Stavros
If yu don't have the production budget for wings you arent allowed to try to make a Flash Gordon TV show.
Dan
Well, Hawkmen are corny, you see. These Hawkmen - sorry, Dactyls - are the new grim and gritty kind of warrior kings who wouldn't be caught dead in wings. That's why they wear trenchcoats made out of garbage bags. Stavros
It's like the prop dept was given a Macro discount card and that was their range. The Vancouver woods show that annoyed me most was still Stargate. So the first planet they visited was a desert world that totally fitted Eygptology theme of the show but every one since then has been the lush forests of Canada? Y'know Canada, where Osiris and Ra were known to spend a lot if time. Like was there a morman style sect of people who think the Egyptian gods came to the new world and thus this makes thematic sense that I don't get?
