Dread
Wow. Interested to see where it goes with a female Quincannon (meat jokes ahoy!). Wonder if they'll have to clear a likeness clause with the Wayne family.
Molly
If they never show his face, it can be written off as parody, I think.
Missy
Seems a touch early to bring in Quincannon. Hell, it's always too early to bring him in; I dislike that storyline so much.
Molly
I like the idea of Jesse taking some time off. I like Jesse as a lawman. I hate his mom being alive. It's a mixed bag, I think. Good comics, but hurts for lack of regular characters.
Dread
Yeah, out of the whole run, I only actively dislike the spoiler. Quincannon is an amazing villain and the arc highlights a very important part of Custer's character.
Molly
The spoiler is such a saccharine piece of contrived storytelling I have a hard time believing it was Ennis.
Dread
Having read Ennis past Preacher, I believe that was more of his real self creeping in than it was a diversion.
Molly
I think it's often forgotten how young Ennis was all through the run. He was 30 when Preacher wrapped. Of course he made mistakes. That said, Preacher is the purest smartest thing I think he's written. I'm no fan of his, but i unapologetically love Preacher.
Dread
^ Ditto. I've outwardly disliked (sometimes hated) almost every other thing he did. Preacher was fucktacular. Same way I feel about Gaiman and American Gods.
Koete
Seth Rogen seems to be saying it got a series order.

JackFetch
The Preacher trailer will debut during The Walking Dead Mega Sunday on AMC

Dread
Hm...I had to watch it twice because I bent my head down to quickly scratch my upper back and missed the entire thing.
Dread
Okey doke. Here's the real thing.I'm interested.
Missy
That looks like unmitigated garbage.I will watch it and I might like it, but that trailer does not impress.
Dread
Well, I think we knew from the get-go that this is going to be VERY different from the comic. I like the portrayal of Jesse from that trailer. Cassidy's voice is a little higher pitched than I would have wanted.
Missy
Cassidy sounds like an American asshole doing a lazy Irish accent, and Jesse is sitting in a lawn chair. I just wish this was given more time than 60 seconds.
Dread
To be fair, it's better than the three quarters of a second the teaser had.
JasonC
I've not read the comic, so I can't say how faithful it is. But based on that trailer, I will be avoiding the show as if it were Ebola.
Donomark
Preacher is one of those stand-out 90s comics that if you didn't read you definitely knew of it. I've skimmed through the odd issue here or there. This doesn't really look like anything I remember seeing, although it's definitely a Garth Ennis-y type of trailer for a thing. Stavros
Cassidy sounds like an American asshole doing a lazy Irish accent, and Jesse is sitting in a lawn chair. I just wish this was given more time than 60 seconds.Hey. He's a british asshole doing an Irish accent. And Joe Gilgun is pretty talented, he's won me over in difficult roles before and his CV is pretty darn strong. Bucking the negative trend, I liked that trailer. It sets the theme for cycles of violence and escalation, but doesn't give away anything too crazy yet, just enough to intrigue people. I think the cartoon violence plus emotion of the source material is very difficult to translate into that AMC style miniseries, especially if you want to mass market it. Going subtle and threatening to build to bigger shit is a better route for them than setting a completely unfamiliar tone. I wasn't high on the concept of Seth Rogans Preacher but I'll give it a fair shot. Edited November 2, 2015 by Stavros
Gareth
Looks fine, much better than all that comic shit on FOX and The CW.
teenalphabro
. . . I liked the trailer.
