Two DVDs Mike burned the Internet Fairy sent me.

Ah the internet fairy, she looks after us all now and again! :)

The Ark in Space

Would you recommend it? I've been looking around for it lately, and since RTD has previously said he used it as a primary source for how he layed out the new series, it could be interesting.

Isn't Baker only in the Five Doctors for about 2 minutes?

Yeah, using footage from an abandoned story if my head serves me right.

Yes. He didn't want to take part, so they used footage from an episode that was never aired. On top of which, Hartnell had passed away by that point, so the First Doctor was recast. In the easter egg commentary on the 25th anniversary edition, David Tennant declares that the actual title of the story is "Three And A Half Doctors and Some Bloke In A Wig."

It's a good story. Very prototypical of the new series. Basic "stuck on a ship with an alien" type stuff.

The DVD

This is region two though, so your best option is to play it on your PC or get a region free player.

This is no longer accurate. For Hartnell, I have The Beginning boxed set (An Unearthly Child, The Daleks, The Edge of Destruction), The Dalek Invasion of Earth, The Web Planet, and The War Machines. For Troughton, I recently picked up The Mind Robber.

Mine's no longer accurate either. I picked up 'The Aztecs' based on your podcast, and 'The War Machines'.

The Aztecs is bloody fantastic.

You can't blame us for The War Machines.

And nor would I. I enjoyed it immensely.

There's a whole load of bad in there, don't get me wrong. The acting is subpar, the War Machines themselves look awful, and it appears to be based around WOTAN conquering one small section of Tottenham Court Road, but it's also a lot of fun. Hartnell's on top form, you get a VERY Tennant-like 'standing in the path of destruction' shot and even the surreality of the Doctor being referred to as 'Doctor Who' repeatedly.

That shot is almost worth the price of the disc alone. I LOVE that shot.
