Episode 06.01

Recommended Posts

Ian and Dave find themselves on opposite sides of the fence as they begin to watch the British time-travel cop show Crime Traveller. In "Jeff Slade and the Loop of Infinity," "maverick" policeman Jeff Slade discovers that his colleague, science officer Holly Turner, has a time machine in her flat. He persuades her to let him use it to investigate an apparent suicide. In "A Death in the Family," Holly's aunt is murdered, and Slade talks her into using the time machine to try and prevent it from happening. Ian reads out Dave's angry texts to him about having to watch this show, and doesn't know what Dave is so upset about. Dave suggests an alternative version of the show without its leading man, and rants about the worst realized police station in television history. [ 2:11:05 || 43.0 MB ]

First episode thoughts: I find myself wanting to like the show, but I walked away befuddled by the whole "parallel universe" thing. If they were there the first time around and had an influence on events, which is clearly established several times, why can't Slade have placed the bet and why is his wound healed?

Also, this:

Finally catching up with the show again, blasted through 3 episodes today and maybe it was the humour, maybe it was the insight, maybe it was the paint fumes but I had a ball. The best part was when you talked about how great Cure for the Common Podcast is, couldn't agree more. I always like hearing that people actually enjoy the show!

Very glad you're covering Crime Traveller, very much the Big Bad Beetleborgs to Bugs' Power Rangers. Actually that's pretty accurate, right down to the colour coded outfits in Bugs.

Clearly Dave and I are more in sync when judging the BBC'S Saturday night light entertainment. Crime Traveller is, and I don't say this lightly, the worst show someone has ever shown me on DVD. From Chloe Annetts awful shoulder pads to the tuppenny sub Bernards Watch concept to the Michael French being so the opposite of Han Solo he might as well be Nah Plural, this show stinks like a sulphur based deodorant made for especially hairy marathon runners.

It is the worst. Although to be fair, it's been about 10 years, I should probably give it another shot. If you're especially hard up to find a copy of the whole thing my ex housemates have the complete series next to all four series of bug and a shelf of films with Ninja in the title.

Looking forward to pt 2!

That post totally confuses me - I counted roughly 6 contradictions, particularly the parts in bold and the "how great Cure for the Common Podcast is" nonsense....

Still, to get back on track, Dave & I recorded 6.2 on Monday night, so hopefully it'll be up before the end of the month.
