RSS
It's a Huge Conspiracy! The Guns N' Roses era of Dropped D ends with a whimper. The boys cover the lamented Chinese Democracy this week in the final GNR episode, because, let's face it, there won't be another. Even if there is, Desmond will be long dead by then, and Damien will be busy transferring his stock in Mountain Dew Corp. into his retirement funds. So enjoy it while it lasts. Axl is a time traveler, Paul Huge rears his ugly head, a wager is made, and all sorts of nasty shenanigans are gone through. What do old Damien and Desmond sound like? Also, how old was the babysitter Desmond hired? When is it acceptable to have "sha-na-nas" in your lyrics? And, finally, what is the next band your intrepid podcasters will cover? Questions for the ages, my friends. passenger
Chinese Democracy to me says I'm Axl and I don't really try... random thoughts as I listen, to go with random songs. Chris Pitman is conneted with TOOL. I love when you can tell you guys are trying to keep the show going, you grab at anything you can. TIM ROBBINS? out of the blue..out of the fucking blue...lol. I have the much better demos too, I wish that would have been on the cd. I love this thought from "Slash said it was "exactly what I thought it would sound like" is that a put down? Duff McKagan praised the album, saying that "Axl sounds amazing" and "I think Axl's finally made the record he always wanted to" is this a put down? Des you are positive about your nagative thoughts on this. the last two songs seem like they were last, so people would listen to the rest of the cd. Guest TFG1Mike
When you guys get to Nine Inch Nails... will you cover The Social Network soundtrack? As Trent Reznor worked on that, and it is awesome! Also the Live From Daryl's House web show is great... if you are a Daryl Hall fan. One of the reasons is hearing him sing other bands/artists songs. As well as hearing other artists sing Hall & Oates songs. To each their own though. The Offspring... cool! Can't wait.
James D.
My first class this morning was cancelled, so I'm in the library listening to this. This is fantastic, gents. Just hearing Dubs' rants on "Shackler's Revenge" almost made me blurt out laughter in the dead silence of the building here. I only know the song from being forced to play it in Tour Mode of Rock Band 2. </vomit> It truly is that horrendous. I'll edit in more thoughts as I continue on. EDIT: "Fucktacular". EDIT: "You have been working on this album longer than my babysitter's been ALIVE!!" EDIT: Des' old man voice =

Dread
Thanks peeps. As far as Reznor's soundtrack work, probably not. Scores would be difficult to talk about at length and they're kind of out of the modern rock realm we're trying to cover. If you liked Social Network, try The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo! It's better and almost three hours long.

James D.
So, I had forgotten Chinese Democracy was available for Rock Band and I downloaded "Sorry" because like Des, I think it's a really good track. (Also, it was half price in the RB store.) I played it on Blitz and immediately I'm in the top 20 scores. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. Dread
Izzy Stradlin joined the band onstage on the last night of the residency at the HR Hotel in Vegas and there's video of "14 Years" here! Bitchin'! Izzy's still got it. A little windy, but for a guy who's put himself through more shit than anyone in the band other than Adler, he's doing alright. Edit: The first video is better quality sound and video, but the second has a great moment after the song's over.
