Yo! Sorry to hear that - the email address remains the same but there's something behind the scenes that means that I don't get to access them directly and I get them forwarded from @Missy. Will refer this up, but as a rule, continue to either use the email address and/or the Facebook page (or both for belt & braces).

No sweat, I appreciate the confirmation! I've sent in my audio feedback for ep 100 to the email, so it is now in the capable hands of others. 🙏

@slothian just confirming feedback is still to be sent to hey@earth-2.net. I sent in an email late November for Matt Damon month that didn't make it to air, so just want to be sure episode 100 feedback makes it in time and to the right place (since this is a tight turnaround). Its possible my previous feedback was received too late or it was received and just too long/unfunny, in which case no sweat!

  3. ‘Saw X’ Gets Franchise’s Best Reviews, First “Fresh” Rotten Tomatoes Score

Rotten Tomatoes means absolutely nothing to me, but this does make me wonder if this latest movie is actually better than the rest or whether this is just the usual nonsense. Realistically, I think the bar for these movies is just so damn low, and this one is probably benefiting from being a prequel and ignoring a lot of the convoluted plotlines of the sequels. Similarly, I don't think many of these reviewers think highly enough about this franchise to try and identify/track the continuity errors that were blatant from the trailer alone.

  4. Great episode, gang! I definitely mirrored Dan’s list the closest, but it was great to hear all of your takes on these films - especially Ian's, since to date I had no idea his thoughts on this franchise as a whole.

While its on my mind, I just want to say that I think it is a testament to the character of all three of and this community that I felt no hesitation or concern listening to this, considering I have completely shut myself off from Star Wars discourse for the past 5 years due to the overwhelming toxicity and negativity. Whilst I continue to watch and enjoy new Star Wars content I actively avoid the various communities and discussions that I used to love to be a part of. I appreciate you all being level-headed, respectful, and just plain decent people so I could finally enjoy some Star Wars discussion content. Thanks to all three of you (but especially @Missy) for fostering a community and content that I never feel anxious or hesitant to engage with. Although I'm not very active here (joined 13 years ago and still hold rank of "The New Guy") earth-2 definitely feels like my safe space, lol.

Looking for new Forums, people! I feel like the next one should be director-specific, so give me ideas.

NB) Edgar Wright has been mentioned, but he has 7 films proper and the minimum bar is 8 films. I don't want a director with 20+ films, but a happy medium in between would be great.

But non-director ideas would be great too!

Based on this criteria the most sensible and obvious choice of director would be none other than the two-time Fangoria Chainsaw Award winner and 2009 Eyegore Awards recipient of the coveted Filmmaker of the Year award:

    Spoiler

    Rob Zombie

Jokes aside, I would second Stanley Kubrick, or Alfonso Cuarón, but I will also add in David Fincher.

  6. Cosmic Odyssey: This was a lot of fun and a great read! This doesn't seem to be a story that is talked about a lot, but I found it really enjoyable. I could definitely see the inspiration this had on the Justice League episode "Twilight".

Final Crisis: Reading this felt like I was stuck in a classroom taking a test and failing miserably. I was able to follow the story well-enough, but at times it genuinely felt like pages and/or important context were missing. Perhaps I am too casual a comic reader for this one, but I found no enjoyment from it. Also, some of the dialogue was a little much. I am thinking specifically about Dan Turpin saying "Who knew the sound of breath whistling through smashed cartilage could be such a turn-on?"

  7. Zack Snyder's Justice League

I might be in the minority on this site, but I surprisingly really enjoyed this. I really didn't think I would as I was not a fan of BvS, but this felt like a natural continuation as well as a vast improvement. It is not perfect and if you aren't a fan of Zack Snyder's directing this will do nothing to change your mind, but I came away from this having had a really great time. Everything that worked for me about the theatrical cut is still here, and the things that didn't are gone.

The four hours didn't bother me at all, given that this is separated into chapters and felt more like a well made mini-series. Even still, it just reminded me of watching Ben-Hur, Lawrence of Arabia, or the Ten Commandments with my parents growing up, or LOTR with friends. Given that this was finalized for streaming and you can pause anytime I don't have an issue with the length. More scenes of my favourite heroes interacting - sure, why not?

On a final note, it was nice to see that so many roles of POC that were significantly diminished or removed from the theatrical cut were restored. I can't mark this as a spoiler for whatever reason so proceed at your own risk, but off the top of my head these are the characters removed/diminished in the theatrical cut that stood out:

    • Ryan Choi (completely removed)
    • Cyborg Backstory (almost entirely removed)
    • Silas Stone (almost entirely removed)
    • Elinor Stone (completely removed)
    • Waitress in Cyborg Backstory (completely removed)
    • Iris West (completely removed)

I can understand why many of these were axed if they were attempting to make a 2 hour runtime, but c'mon - it is not a good look.

  8. Another great episode guys!

Regarding John Hughes, Molly Ringwald wrote a pretty insightful article a few years ago entitled What About “The Breakfast Club”?  that is worth a read. It doesn't delve into the issues Pandy raised with Mr. Mom, but has some good criticisms of his other work and practices. (https://www.newyorker.com/culture/personal-history/what-about-the-breakfast-club-molly-ringwald-metoo-john-hughes-pretty-in-pink)

Also, Muppet and Rocky themed Flickchart Forums are a great idea and I would love to hear them.

Yes, it is a Rob Zombie movie after all.

And that was the version I watched. But if I had delved too deeply into the Zombie can of worms, it wouldn't have made great content. And bear in mind, this is the best film of Zombie's in my opinion - sort of by default as Halloween II and The Devil's Rejects are right at the foot of my Flickchart, but it isn't as bad as them.

Fair enough, I was just surprised to not hear it mentioned at all, as it was my big takeaway from the film. Thanks for the response! I had never seen a Rob Zombie film prior to his two Halloweens, so I think I will call it quits while I am ahead.

  10. So, I just finished watching all of the Halloween movies for the first time this October, in addition to watching the Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street films. I really enjoyed watching through this franchise for the first time (more than the other two), and this episode was a great treat at the end. My ranking is fairly similar to the averaged out ranking, with some minor variables.

    1. Halloween 1978
    2. Halloween (2018)
    3. Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)
    4. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)
    5. Halloween II (1981)
    6. Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)
    7. Halloween III: The Season of the Witch (1982)
    8. Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)
    9. Halloween (2007) (*See Below*)
    10. Halloween: Resurrection (2002)
    11. Halloween II (2009)

I had a quick question regarding Rob Zombie's Halloween (2007). I know it has been a while, but do you recall what cut you guys watched? I sat down and watched the Director's Cut (I believe) which had a pretty significant alteration regarding Michael's escape scene. In one version of the film, he is being escorted by several Guards / Officers, who he brutally kills to escape. In the version I saw, the hill-billy new Security Guard brings one of his friends to the institution late at night, and goes into Michael's cell to rape a female inmate in front of Michael, to taunt him... I guess (?). Michael remains unmoved until one of the men grabs one of Michael's masks, at which point he murders them. This scene did not come up at all during the aired discussion, so I was just curious to see what version you all watched.

The scene in question went on for several minutes (but what felt like an eternity), and in my opinion, was absolutely disgusting, unnecessary, and idiotic. I do not understand why this scene was put to film or what purpose it served. It felt so disgusting to watch, and it really coloured my opinion regarding the rest of the film, knocking it down several positions. Perhaps I am being overly sensitive, but it has been bothering me ever since I watched it, and it was bothering me that it went unmentioned in the episode, though I am assuming it was because of a difference in Cuts.
