  1. Saw it on Friday and I have some thoughts. I'll spoiler them just in case anyone hasn't seen it. Broad strokes of it is that I liked it, it was fun but, like anything done by Lindelof and Abrahms it has some deep, deep flaws.
  2. Really cool comic by the Sesame Street people teaching kids how to read comics
  3. I love this week's 2000AD retro cover. The details like the different pricing on different planets and the pencil markings are fantastic.
  4. I think it's just a branch caught at an odd angle.
  5. The TARDIS led Clara to the library in the first place, so is it really surprising that she would be able to read the book? Also there's been complaints that Doctor Who has been too sexy for literally decades now. It's just a generational thing. We'll probably feel the same way when he's introducing his companions to the strap on sonic screw driver in 2045.
  6. Stavros and I have come up with an idea for a Doctor Who themed version of Chrononauts. Just trying to figure out the lynchpins and events but the obvious equivalent to the "Assassinate Hitler" lynchpin would be Genesis of the Daleks.
  7. Cheers everyone. I consumed much beer, much japanese food and much sake. Mmmmm.
  8. If Emilio Estevez took just as many drugs as Charlie Sheen, then yes he would be.
  9. Originally it was called Sin City, but you can guess why they had to change that. It's sort of an odd one because it brings a load of plot lines from previous stories together and it's sort of an odd end for Orlok who was a character with about 20 years of history behind him. I think this was the debut of Kev Walker's Mignolaesque style as he'd previously been using a very detail heavy inked style and, before that, a fully painted style. I much prefer this as it flows like a proper comic should rather than just a collection of very pretty pictures.
  10. Series 7 finale title has been revealed. I'll spoiler it for those who don't want to know
  11. I'll try to put this in terms of another comic character. Imagine a Batman movie where the first thing he does is gun down a load of criminals. The rest of the movie is spent out of costume following the plot of Commando. This might be an alright action movie, but it is a shitty Batman movie. Also, Rob Scheider is there.
  12. SFX have a few off camera shots of Tennant and Smith as Doctors 10 and 11 and John Hurt is going to be in it as well. Here's a picture that piqued my interest though
  13. Nice work Ian and cheers for the shout out. I'll give Judge Dredd this, it's slightly above Avatar: the last Airbender when it comes to translating source material.
  14. Unsurprisingly, but sadly Chris Eccleston won't be back for the 50th
  15. I know it's a remake, but I agree with Mike. I hate trailers that are a synopsis for the movie.
  16. Drowntown looks really interesting. First full strip work that Jim Murray's done in some years I think. I really love the high quality stuff that Jonathan Cape seems to be putting out.
  17. Colin Baker writes about his pretty understandable objections to the Sun and Mirror front pages
  18. That would then tie in with both the first and seventh doctors. McGann's the Doctor I most want involved with the 50th special. He just hasn't had a fair shake on TV even compared with Colin Baker.

    DC reboot

So DC seems to be trying to set up a factory farm for golden geese. Biggest problem is that they seem to be farming the geese for their meat.
  20. Colin Baker is furious at the mirror as their front cover makes it look like he's involved.
  21. I have a big problem with this It's not just that it's objectifying a female character from a comic, it's the character that they're objectifying. Halo Jones was specifically built around not being a femme fatale or a sex object and while she did extraordinary things, she herself was meant to be ordinary. She could have been someone you knew or even you in a way that you couldn't really get from Dredd or Slaine or Batman or Superman. She wasn't a sexless character, but she also was meant to be something other than a sex icon. I don't know whether the fact that Ian Gibson was the one who drew these prints makes it better or worse.
