  1. DC Rebirth - Johns wrote the hell out of this. And the artists all meshed really well together, tied together by Brad Anderson's great colors. If this is the standard of writing and tone set across the DC Universe, with exceptions where it's needed of course, it might be the best course-correction done lately.
  2. There's a difference in material available but I wonder what this means for Marvel Unlimited.
  3. ANAD Avengers #9 - Not having read the FCBD issue, some things lost me but overall it was pretty solid. Some of the best art Asrar's done for this title so far. The new Wasp is pretty intriguing. Black Panther #2 - Still trying to get a feel for it, but I liked it. The art by Stelfreeze carries it a lot. Silk #8 - Weak part of the Spider-Women story but okay enough. Not a fan of the art. Darth Vader #20 - Great issue. The backup was neat. The Ultimates #7 - Loved it. Somewhat slower than previous issues to set up stuff, but still fantastic. Art doesn't work as well, since it's a lower key story. Web Warriors #7 - Fantastic. Just batshit crazy insane fun. Ducktor Doom 2099!
  4. The Ballad of Halo Jones - At first, I wasn't digging it too much. But as the story unfolded, I got more and more sucked into the story. It's pretty amazing how it organically evolved from cyberpunk, to a more lowkey 80s Doctor Who story to a Vietnam War allegory. I know there wasn't any more and never will be, but that's just fine. Halo Jones is a rather well-defined character, I really felt for her especially at the end. The supporting cast tends not to stick around too long but they're all memorable in their own ways. Dug the art by Ian Gibson. It has the pitfall for me of being in black and white, which led to some confusion, but hey it's still great art. Has a bit of an Alan Davis feel. Probably the best 2000 AD story I've read so far. I really like their female characters, and there's dearth of them.
  5. Couldn't you attribute a measure of The Flash's success to Johns though? It's the show he's had the most involvement with, and the one that's doing the best critically and ratings-wise compared to Supergirl, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow.
  6. Matteo Buffagni's done an arc or two on the current volume of ASM, and while he's not that great a fit for Spidey it was still good art. That issue of Daredevil was even better, enhanced by Milla's coloring.
  7. Spawn Vol. 1 - Pretty impressive, actually. First five issues are pretty well-done. Sixth issue leaves me cold. The countdown is a cool gimmick, and I'm actually intrigued to see what the point is. The art by McFarlane's even better than his Spidey stuff. Bit cluttered from time to time, but he does well with emotion. The Flash #51 - Enjoyable. I wish the art was a bit more consistent, there hasn't been a defining artist since Booth left. A-Force #5 - Promising start to this new team's run. Really enjoy the art. ASM #12 - Ehh. Black Widow #3 - Fantastic. Spider-Gwen #8 - Still my favorite parts of the Spider-Women crossover, which I'm enjoying a lot. Poe Dameron #2 - Terex is a pretty cool villain so far. The art by Noto is some of the best I've ever seen from him.
  8. He was a true badass, and from all accounts someone who inspired everyone to be better. RIP.
  9. On the ABC side of things, The Muppets, Castle, Galavant, The Family, and Nashville all got cancelled.
  10. The C stands for Comics. I'm really excited for this show, I hope it's good.
  11. Loved it. After a string of meh episodes, this got me really excited for the show again.
  12. ASM #11 - Kinda unremarkable to me. Daredevil #6 - Better than the previous arc. Art by Matteo Buffagni was about as good as Garney's, leading me to believe it's Matt Milla making the book look as nice. Ms. Marvel #6 - Ridiculous, but not unenjoyable. Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #6 - Just when I was thinking it's starting to wear a bit thin, it got my interest again.
  13. I still think they should have handed the reins to the franchise over to Matthew Vaughn.
  14. Hellboy Beyond the Fences #3 - I might get more out of this if I read more Hellboy, or even the 1950s miniseries, but it was still enjoyable. Love the Rivera art. Batgirl #51 - Still feels like the old creative team's here somewhat, which is good for a transition to something new. Harley Quinn #27 - Fun. The Red Tool thing didn't click with me until they spelled it out, and I immediately felt dumb. Really like Timms' art, although some layouts were kinda confusing. Spider-Woman #6 - Joelle Jones is just perfect for Jess Drew. Man, the art in this. This issue might be the strongest part of Spider-Women so far. Star Wars #18 - A bit lacking in momentum, but I'm still enjoying this, mostly for the Yu art. The Ultimates #6 - Beyond my letter being printed in this, I really liked this issue. Galactus takes on the status quo, quite literally. I haven't read much of anything with the Molecule Man, but I enjoyed his appearance here. Christian Ward's well-suited for this story. Eleventh Doctor Year 2 #8 - Liked the stuff with Abslom Daak. Some really funny moments. The art was better than I've come to expect. Not that it's ever been bad, just not to my taste.
  15. I have the same Wizard hardcover! I call it the Best 80s Spider-Man Stories because it doesn't have comics from any other decade. Good selection of stuff though, that's where I first read The Kid Who Collected Spider-Man. I have no problem with Spidey being in dark stories as long as the character himself isn't dark. Serious, yes, but not grim. I remember the Spider-Man Batman crossover where he loses his shit at the Joker, when perhaps the better way to have gone about it was to beat him at his own game, like Terry McGinnis in Return of the Joker.
  16. That bothered me too. All the superhero battles were really good so obviously they had a handle on action, but the hand-to-hand fights were just a blur.
  17. I'm upset that it's a timed exclusive, I hope they give PS4 users something extra. I got Gravity Rush and it's pretty fun so far. I like the powers and the art style is really nice. I might not get to play too much of it since finals are approaching but hey.
  18. Flash #50 - Fun issue, setting up what should be an interesting story. Love the art, especially the pages by Paul Pelletier. Harley's Little Black Book #3 - Solid team-up. Not sure if it needs the expanded page count, but it's still enjoyable. The art by Linsner is fantastic. Godzilla Oblivion #2 - This is really good. Captain Marvel #4 - Entertaining enough but it's lacking. Good art by Anka and Felipe Smith. Silk #7 - Provides some nice character moments for Silk as well as progressing the Spider-Women story a bit. Decent art but not the best. Star Wars Obi-Wan and Anakin #4 - Pretty strange in that it feels that the main plot is dropping the Star Wars characters in a mecha video game. Not necessarily bad, just different. Still pretty good. Checchetto can do no wrong with the art.
  19. It's official, Punisher's getting his own series. Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal) is serving as showrunner.
  20. This one didn't do all that much for me. I'll be honest, halfway in I was just listening to it.(And not all that intently) I can't even be all that impressed by Zoom because the reveal has taken away so much of what was working for the character. Just not a whole lot of momentum to this episode, much like Barry.
  21. A-Force #4 - Kinda forgettable, still enjoyable with the art. I'm interested in the next team's arc. ANAD Avengers #8 - Much more tied into the crossover, and I'm a bit lost. Liked some smaller moments with the characters though. The art isn't up to Adam Kubert's usual standards. ASM #10 - Pretty good issue. Spider-Gwen #7 - There's something just a little bit off with the issue. Still enjoyable, and I like Bengal's art. Hopefully he's on the list of people to take over for Robbi Rodriguez once he retires. Darth Vader #19 - Just great. Triple 0's hilarious. And I really liked the art by Larroca. Web Warriors #6 - Great to see Noir take the spotlight. The Spider-Man India plot was pretty cool and obscure. (And apparently it's gonna get more obscure from here)
