  1. A friend of mine was complaining to me about the TMNT port because I can't play with him. He's telling me that the only way to play multiplayer for the game is if I had a 360 (I don't) and the game (yeah... no). It seems silly that they won't let me walk to my friend's house and pick up a controller and play with him.

I know this old but are you talking about the XBLA port of the arcade game? If you are then you can go to his house and pick up a controller and play, as can two more of your buddies. It's four player online & offline co-op.

  2. I have a feeling the "missing reels" will be included (at least as extras) on the DVDs.

I've got the scripts for both movies, and the missing reel was written into Planet Terror. The lapdance scene was in the script for DeathProof though.

That was probably why the missing reel in Death Proof seemed so strained. I know it was a staple of Grindhouse films that when they were showing these films an entire reel would be missing but for Planet Terror it seemed a natural part, while Death Proof just didn't pull it off.

  3. I can sort of understand them splitting them up for cinema releases, but for DVD they should be kept together, even if it's spread over 2 disks.

Tarantino has come out and said that both Death Proof and Planet Terror will be receiving separate DVD releases. I hope they also release Grindhouse as it was meant to be seen though.

  4. I live outside of Philly. We're the 5th or 6th largest city in the country. Around here Grindhouse was playing at roughly 25% capacity. I think the three plus hours of film time, as well as the fact that it is in a niche genre (very niche to be exact) really hurt the film. Tarantino's Lifetime movie of the week didn't help matters. Out of the small number of people in our theater on opening night more than half left during Tarantino's talk fest. I personally liked the whole presentation but I can see why it is flopping.

  5. I believe the Hardware division and the XB Live division are two separate entities. While both fall under the MS banner it would be like asking Verizon to compensate you for you not using your internet connection while your PC was getting fixed. Not fair but understandable business practice.

  6. It's holding a terrible 27% over at Rotten Tomatoes. I think I will be passing on this comic book film. The last time I went to see something that looked as bad as Ghost Rider did for me was Elektra and well utter garbage is the term that comes to mind when I think of that film.

  7. I passed up on buying the PS2 version as I knew it was coming out for the XBox, although it'll likely cost about £30 - £40 more than the game for the PS2

Here in the states it's going to cost $10 more ($90 w/ guitar as opposed to $80), which is in line with other 360 releases.

  8. The Gunslinger (Book One) and Wizard and Glass (Book Four) are the two slowest of the series but I can assure you that the story does pick up and those that stick around will not be disappointed.

  9. I never played Beyong Good & Evil.

DMC3 was a lot of fun but didn't grab me like the original game did.

GT4 didn't improve enough for me over GT3.

I never played Guitar Hero but have heard some great things about it.

Kingdom Hearts II was my pick. It once again mixed a great story with the fantastic characters of Square and Disney.

  10. One more complaint I have with the battle system is blocking and dodging. The fights are all real time, yet blocking/evading an attack is still done randomly based on your EVA rate. I should be able to dodge attacks by running around the enemy, but even if you do, and the enemy attacks in front of him, and your standing behind him, you still take damage.

Plus, could your computer controlled partners be any dumber. No matter what you have the gambits set to, they just love to stand right in front of the enemy and keep getting hit over and over.

I usually agree with Famitsu, but right now I just don't see how this was only the sixth game ever that they scored a perfect 40.

I'm currently enjoying it, the battle system reminds me of a little played PSX title Vagrant Story. Anyone else feel it reminds them of Vagrant Story?

  11. I've never been a big Superman (outside of the movies) or Grant Morrison fan and after reading All Star Superman I just don't see what all the fuss is about. Could someone please explain to me why everyone is falling over themselves in regards to this book?

  12. The new Final Fantasy game comes out on Tuesday. Is anyone else excited about the impending release? I can honestly say I haven't been this psyched about a game in quite a while and have been looking forward to XII's release for a long time now.

I haven't seen much about it but with two kids the wallets lighter these days and video games are far from my mind. Is there anything really new in it?

I believe it is also the first Final Fantasy to feature a world previously used in a game (Ivalice from Final Fantasy Tactics is the world of FF XII). I'll be picking up my copy (the first game I will gave bought since last year) tomorrow night after work.

    Cough*X-2*Cough

Correct. I thought that game was such a pile of crap that I forgot about it.

It is the first true Final Fantasy game to feature a previous world though. 1-11 are all different worlds that had not been visited before, they may have been visited again (like in X-2 and Tactics Advance) but the true sequels have never been to a previously developed world. Or at least that was my take on it.

  15. I would go with:

Batman - my choice for leader

Iron Man - same type of personality as Bruce and also a proven leader which would result in some sparks

Green Arrow - doesn't get along real well with Bruce. I can't imagine him getting along real well with Tony either

Namor - leader of Atlantis and slightly loopy in the head. Add that too Bruce, Tony and Ollie and I don't think anyone will be getting along here.

Reed Richards - Reed is probably smarter than everyone on this team but he tends to lose common sense whenever he is around Namor which could result in some fun.

Wolverine - Every team needs Wolverine.

  16. As someone who does not do Wizard, and really does not follow news relating to comics, stopping a comic for a while is a surefire way to get me to forget it.

I am the kind of person who goes into the comic book shop and looks around. But for most of the year I am the kind of person who has a mail order service, so if something stops and restarts under a new identity, as far as I know it has simply stopped. If something takes a few months off, the excitement of the next issue fades away, and I cut ties.

Besides, I need to agree that Spidergirl totally deserves to keep her numbers going. Let her hit that 250 or 500 mark, and don't make it harder for her. Besides the fact that it is cool, and it shows longevity, its good to be able to say that a book based on a female character lasted a damn long time.

I just read the first issue of it and while not really a fan of the old Spider-Girl series I will be continuing to pick this book up. It was quite a fun read.

  17. CSN @ NEWSARAMA: BAGLEY TO LEAVE ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN

by Cliff Biggers, Comic Shop News

With Ultimate Spider-Man #100 due any week now and the record-setting Ultimate Spider-Man #103 establishing Brian Bendis & Mark Bagley as the record-holding creative team at Marvel (having produced more consecutive issues of any superhero series in Marvel history, surpassing the 102-issue Stan Lee-Jack Kirby run on Fantastic Four), it appears that the end of an era is soon approaching. Mark Bagley has confirmed his plans to leave the series after Ultimate Spider-Man #110.

“I’ve had an incredible time with Ultimate Spider-Man,” Bagley told CSN, “but I don’t want to stagnate. Right now, Brian and I are doing some of the best work we’ve ever done on the comic, and I think it’s best for me to leave while we’re on the top of our game.”

While Bagley is moving on to other projects, Bendis will remain with Ultimate Spider-Man, although Marvel has not chosen an artist to take over the title. Of course, there are very few artists working in comics today who can match Bagley’s prodigious output; the artist has produced as many as eighteen issues per year and has still found time to do additional work for Marvel.

So what’s next for Bagley? “I’m not sure what I’ll be doing next,” he said. “I’m talking with Marvel, and they have several books they’re evaluating to see just where they feel I will fit best.” Once that decision is made, of course, you’ll hear about it in CSN!

It looks like Stuart Immoen (I probably just butchered his name) is taking over for Bagley. I am quite sad. I didn't like Immoen (butchered it agan didn't I?) on Ultimate X-Men or Ultimate Fantastic Four, I certainly don't think I am going to like him on my favorite Ultimate comic.

  18. Microsoft Corp. plans to finance a movie based on its popular video game "Halo" after Universal Pictures and 20th Century Fox backed out of the project.

It's not so much in trouble, as too expensive for Universal and Fox. Microsoft is now paying for it to be made. They have a deal with Peter Jackson to make video games(they started a video game company together), package King Kong with the new HD-DVD drive, and of course make the Halo movie. I think it is all part of the same deal and they need Halo to be made even if they pay the bills themselves.

Basically Jackson is just executive producing the film because Weta is doing the digital effects for the film. They have already signed a director (Neill Blomkamp) so I don't think Jackson cares one way or the other if Halo gets made, he got his end of the deal (the game company). What the real problem is that Microsoft and Bungie wanted so much control and money (only a reported 40% of the profit would have gone to Universal and Fox) and the the budget was getting out of control (reportedly up around $200 million) that Universal and Fox felt the need to bail. The only way Microsoft is going to get this made is to either, 1) do it themselves or 2) give the movie studios a better deal.

  19. From Wiki:

    Saw 4

In an article posted on Bloody-Disgusting, it has been revealed that Tobin Bell, aka Jigsaw, may be returning in a sequel to the Saw trilogy.

Tobin Bell, who plays Jigsaw in Lionsgate's Saw franchise, wasn't joking when he said he was signed on for five sequels... we received multiple confirmations yesterday that various writers have been tapped to write different scripts for Saw 4, which would hit theaters next October if Saw 3 performs well the weekend of October 27th. How many writers are on board? We think right now four, but haven't been able to confirm an actual number- but we do have a few names that we unfortunately cannot share at this time. Watch this spot for more news as it comes in.

It is unknown, but rumoured that James Wan and Leigh Whannell, writers of the Saw trilogy will not be working on this production.

Reported on www.moviehole.net on the Gossip Section that Saw 4 may be a prequel with possibly Cary Elewes and Danny Glover from the first film might be involved.

    :shakehead:

And Saw 5 as well. They have already confirmed that Saw 5 is in the planning stages. The films take about 10 million to make, so if they continue to gross 40-50 million they will keep making them.
