The New Guy (1/8)

  1. Great episode. Believe it or not, I have never watched Sesame Street before, I was a very deprived child, but not that deprived because I did watch the Muppets and love them. I actually find Kermit kind of obnoxious though and can't stand Piggy. I prefer the minor characters like the Swedish Chef and Beaker. I own the Muppets Take Manhattan and like the Great Muppett Caper it holds up pretty well except for the acting. Not because of the reasons you mentioned in Caper, but just because the acting stinks, it's kind of sad that the muppets are better actors than the people. I have to say I like the episodes dedicated to a certain topic the best, if it's a topic I like that is. Keep up the good work. Oh yeah, one last thing. I actually own the Punky Brewster DVDs.
  2. Yeah you're right, I guess Sonic is just cool, not badass. After all in the underwater boards he had to get to those bubbles to breathe and even Mario and Luigi could hold their breath underwater! So he can't be all that badass. I thought about Tyson too, but I thought i'd stay away from real people because then I would have to name people like Bo Jackson and Chris Benoit and an endless list of athletes from sports games which would probably just bore everybody.
  3. I am Spider-Flash! 65% Spiderman 65% Flash You are intelligent, witty, a bit geeky and have great power and responsibility.
  4. Silent Hill was released to nearly 3,000 theaters. There is no way that it was intended to be a movie for the fans of the video games. I realize it's a popular game, but not one that they would expect to fill 3,000 theaters with. I went to the movie with three friends and none of them even knew it was a video game. This was clearly meant to be a horror film that anyone should go see. While the movie industry loves to make as much money as possible, it also hates losing money, and making a movie for one group of video game fans and putting it in 3,000 theaters is a huge waste of money. Like it was said earlier, Final Fantasy: Advent Children was released straight to DVD. If you watch the movie and you've never played the games, you might not understand what's going on. That's why it was released on DVD, so only the fans that knew what was going on would see it, same with Ultimate Avengers. If Silent Hill was mainly for the fans of the game it should've either been released on DVD or it should've been given a small release. So by releasing it to as many theaters that tells me they expected everyone to go see it, not caring that most of them wouldn't understand all of them, because they are more concerned about getting some money in their pocket than they are about putting out a good product or pleasing the movie goers.
  5. I'm probably in the minority in some of these but oh well i'll throw them out there... Billy & Jimmy Lee (Double Dragon) Abobo (Double Dragon) Bald Bull (Mike Tyson's Punch Out) Vincent Valentine (Final Fantasy VII) Sonic the Hedgehog (Sonic the Hedgehog) Conker (Conker's Bad Fur Day) Star Man (Pro Wrestling) Shadow (Final Fantasy 6)
  6. I should get the Never Ending Story one of these days it will nice whenever I want a nice trip down nostalgia lane. Never seen the second one though, I might have to rent that on Netflix. The most recent things I bought were Batman the Animated Series Volume 1 and Home Movies Season 1. I'm probably going to be also buying Monk Season 3 in the next couple of days.
  7. Good topic. I don't remember what happened in the first comic I had, all I remember is the cover. It was a comic called Nightmask and there were two guys fighting on the front, then in the background there were these bests or creatures of some kind also fighting, I want to say throughout the comic the two beasts did everything that the characters did. I don't know really, I've never read the comic since then so I don't know what it's all about. I really got into comics because of my brother, he is a reader and a collector and has a friend that owns a shop so he got alot of stuff for a really good price. He would always have boxes and boxes of comics. I remember at one point he had the entire garage full of boxes of comics. Once I start getting sort of into comics I told him I'd like to read some. Really the only thing I had seen was that NIghtmask comic I had and Spiderman and X-Men. So I asked him for some Spiderman and X-men, that Christmas he got me about 100 back issues of Amazing Spiderman and Uncanny X-men, one of the benefits of having a friend that is an owner, you get a lot of stuff cheap! Since then every year I've made a list for him of everything I wanted at Christmas and he usually would come up with 100 or so comics for me to enjoy. This year I didn't get any individual comics but I came out of Christmas with a stack of 18 Essentials and 1 Showcase. So I have plenty to read for the next year.
  8. Hi, I'm new here, but i've been enjoying the show so I thought I would make a few comments about Ultra Violent. First of all about Ultraviolet, really good review there. I actually had no interest in seeing the movie whatsoever and now you have me sort of interested in it although I'll probably wait until it comes out on DVD. You said you don't want the little boy to get type cast in creepy movies. Well, before he did Birth he also did a movie called Godsend where he was killed in an accident but a doctor has found a way to clone him and make a new child that will grow up to be the first child all over again. Everything is fine until he gets to the age when the first child died then he pretty much goes nuts. After that and Birth me and my friends in fact dubbed him "the creepy kid". So he's already been doing mostly creepy stuff, but he's good at it. On a sidenote he's actually in the upcoming X-Men movie as Leech (or so IMDB says). Also the role of Garth is played by William Fitchner. Until recently he only got very minor roles. He was a pilot in Armageddon, a coach in The Longest Yard remake and was even in Equilibrium (his name was Jurgen but I don't remember who that was, haven't seen the movie in a while) and he's also been in movies such as Crash, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Black Hawk Down, Pearl Harbor, The Perfect Storm and he's done voice acting in both Grand Theft Auto Vice City and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. Probably the biggest role he has gotten is currently on the tv show "Invasion" as the town sheriff. He's always been really good in what I've seen him in so I hope he starts to get bigger roles.
  9. I have to agree with Ollie on this one, I'll reserve judgement on the actual look of the costume, besides all these years Peter has tried to get by on very little having to sew his own suits and come up with web shooters, etc. Now that he's a part of a team why not use the resources available to him now. I just don't like the colors. The red and blue were iconic, and while a lot of characters made years and years ago have desperately needed a new, more moder look, Spiderman's costume has always held up. I'm just glad Cap didn't make his new suit, then he'd have wings coming out his arms instead of bones.
  10. Colossus - I like what Yoda said about Colossus. He'd be my powerhouse over all the other choices out there (although X-Men is the first comic I read so no big surprise). I like that he can follow orders and that he's a good person, and he's willing to sacrifice himself to help others. Havok - I actually really liked the Colossus/Captain America duo Yoda mentioned, but I have to go with Havok as my leader. I like that he's not seemingly perfect like Cap or his brother Scott. I also like that he's kind of in the shadow of his older brother trying to make a name for himself, I think anybody with older siblings can relate. Plus his powers are cooler than silly shield. Green Lantern (Kyle) - Don't get me wrong, I prefer Hal over Kyle, but for this team I would want Kyle. Give a little youth and freshness to the team, and he could probably still use a team at this point in his career. Hal on the other hand could kick anyone's butt by himself, he doesn't need no stinking team! Hawkeye - You gotta have someone who's not afraid to butt heads with the leader. Besides I've always had a thing for archers. Psylocke - Gotta have a woman don't you? Elektra is actually probably my favorite female character but I don't see her working well in a group, so my number 2, Psylocke, would have to take the spot. At first I was thinking a team of Deathstroke, Punisher and Deadpool would be unbeatable, and they would be, they'd probably kill their victim on the first panel of the comic, then they'd probably spend the rest of the comic trying to kill each other.
