  1. Part Hellboy, part Doc Savage, part Buckaroo Banzai, part Looney Tunes, Brian Clevinger and Scott Wegener's Atomic Robo is, quite simply, no exaggeration, the most fun I've had reading a comic in at least a decade. So much fun, in fact, that I'm having the damnedest time writing this review, because every time I refer to the book to write something, I end up stopping everything to read it again.

  2. In this episode of Dread Media, a sun-beaten and half drunk Desmond Reddick reviews the novel Meat by Joseph D'Lacey, and two Paul Naschy werewolf films: Werewolf Shadow and Curse of the Devil. Tunes include: "Caught with the Meat in your Mouth" by The Dead Boys, "The Flesh Element" by New Math, "Vampira" by The Undead, "Werewolf" by The Noctunes and "Fuck the Children" by George Carlin. RIP George. [ 48:57 || 22.4 MB ]

  3. Sometimes it honestly doesn't occur to me that there are people out there who haven't seen this show. If you haven't, then you need to fix that. Preferably today. And yes, saying that this is the best show on Sci Fi (yes, I'm including BSG in that) is like saying that Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol was the very best of the Police Academy series. I know. But it is.

  4. Supergirl debuts ("Little Girl Lost"), the Killer Croc / Baby Doll relationship is creepy ("Love is a Croc"), a fiery redhead gives Superman a bit of trouble ("Where There's Smoke"), Firefly plans to destroy his ex-girlfriend and Gotham City ("Torch Song") and Superman dons a new (yet familiar) costume in his second meeting with Batman ("Knight Time"). All that, plus lots of e-mail! [ 2:13:08 || 60.9 MB ]

  5. In this episode of Dread Media, Desmond Reddick battles allergies to bring you reviews of two backwoods hillbilly films: Wrong Turn 2: Dead End and Stump the Band. Then he reviews Caliber #3 and Hercules #3 from Radical Comics. Tunes include: "Dead End Road" by Alkaline Trio, "Cannibal Song" by Ministry, "Take it Off" by The Donnas, "People Are Strange" by The Doors and "Bo Meets the Monster" by Bo Diddley. 6. Every once in a great while, despite a nearly superhuman commitment to do so, the Sci Fi Channel forgets to suck. This usually tends to happen at 9:00 PM Tuesday nights during summer rerun season. (Well, there's also Who Wants to Be a Superhero, which happens to be the greatest reality trainwreck in the history of humankind, and is entertaining on an entirely different level of schadenfreude. But I digress.)

  7. Lately I've had a love / hate relationship with Japanese RPGs. For the longest time they were the only games I played, and I treasured every one despite their flaws. But as the years rolled by, something started to change. When playing games like Grandia II and Wild ARMs 3, the feeling of deja vu began to set in. And I couldn't help but feel some of the more unique and interesting RPGs were being ignored. For a while now I've stayed away from the genre altogether, instead getting my fill of shooters and action games. But when I heard about The World Ends with You, I was intrigued. The setting, premise and combat all looked so unique, and the DS was a console I'd largely ignored. So after a bit of thought, I grabbed the first copy I saw and wacked it into the DS as soon as I got the chance.
