  1. Only to be completely overshadowed by Shirley Bassey....
  2. Fave is Aladdin, hands down, so much energy from the Williams performance and I love Gilbert Gottfried. Also, Aladdin is busted checking out Jasmine's butt, it's hilarious. Best is B&B, I love the Lion King, but Beauty and the Beast is just a hands down great story and musical.
  3. Any joke about Chris Brown I give a pass, mainly because I view it in the guide of shinning a light on the fact he should not have a job at all!
  4. Seth McFarlane was really good, maybe cause I went in with such low expectations I loved his small Good Will Hunting reference, when he said to Ben Affleck, Ben, it's not your fault.
  5. +1 to the Happy (belated) Birthday crowd... Incidentally, nice 35th!
  6. A brave new move for the former England cricket captain. Immortalised in history for guiding his eleven men in white pads to resounding wins in the Ashes, ending the dominance of Australia after 20 fruitless years, Michael Vaughan deserves all the plaudits that his captaincy merits. That he is now producing the Fantastic Four is surely another string to his over-quivered bow! Honestly, I'm surprised that Matthew Vaughan isn't producing, given his previous experience with Stadust/Kick Ass/X-Men: First Class. But Michael Vaughan has been chosen, and in cricketer Michael Vaughan, we trust. As an Australian, I hate this post. As a forum dweller, Bra..vo...
  7. Speaking of WCW, I randomly thought about the original Goldberg streak this morning, and how much I was in to it at the time. And that I couldn't believe I got to see the Hulk match free and not on PPV.
  8. Superman: Red Son - Was really looking forward to reading this. The concept was intriguing, someone on staff of an investing newsletter I follow recommended it for some light summer reading, so I picked it up. I thought it got a bit bogged down in the middle, but thought it finished really strongly. As it's been a long time since I've read comics in any capacity, I really don't know how it compares to other similar styles, but if nothing else, I really liked what they did with Lex. I was worried it was going to be too black and white, but the motivations of Superman really made it engaging and harder to guess where it would end.
  9. I really really love Fantastic Mr Fox. I think Royal Tenenbaums is the best though.
  10. I agree with Stavros. I remember Dinklage in some crappy sitcom about a teacher dating some Hollywood Starlet, Dinklage played her agent, and he was amazing. Since then I've been happy to watch him in anything, as he definitely isn't a token anything.

    The news thread

It's a monopoly only because it makes zero money, which is why no-one competes with them. At least that's the deal here in Australia. The Postal Service has branched out in to a range of other services in an attempt to turn a profit. It's just not profitable to transport a letter from one side of the country for 50c.
  12. http://au.ign.com/articles/2013/02/01/god-of-war-single-player-predictably-awesome How did I miss that there was a new God of War coming out in a couple of months? Even though the third one let me down, I will play this in the first month, or whenever it goes on special...
  13. I'm amazed people hung around for 8 seasons. By confirmed the 9th is the last, they could get some pop in the numbers from people wanting to see the build up. I reckon they'll reveal her in the final episode, but she'll be in most of the season, in a Wilson from Home Improvement kind of way, so that you don't know who she is. I hope they don't, but surely we've all got a bad feeling about this one
  14. My first thought for the lead in a Lance Armstrong movie was Richard Roxburgh, who despite most people only knowing him from Van Helsing is an amazing actor. But, it looks like we're getting Bradley Cooper instead.
  15. Saw that when I watched Wreck it Ralph and thought it was amazing.
  16. Congratulations on the new job at the bowling alley.
  17. My girlfriend and I just did the same thing. I would normally hate the Amy Poehler character, but the way she plays it is just amazing. We're about 4 episodes in to Season 2 and agree that it gets better.
  18. It's not just Major League, in Hollywood when something like that happens it's romantic, when it happens in real life, it ends in jail time.

    NFL

This weekends games have all thrown out some amazing moments. I watched the Broncos/Ravens game last night (our time) which I didn't think would be that good and I was sucked in almost from the start. The Pats did what everyone expected, even if they had me nervous on my line bet at stages. But the big news is the Falcons win, could be a watershed moment for Ryan I think, hopefully for you James

  21. The spectacle was good, but it felt clunky in a lot of spots. The 1 movie vs trilogy argument depends on what movie you are going for, if it's a journeyman type thing, it could easily have been one movie. If it's a big war type adventure that you are looking for, then the trilogy makes sense. As always the fight scenes are amazing, but the dialogue was average at best.I thought the guy from Spooks who played Thorin was pretty good though.
  22. Watched this yesterday and thought it was really great. I went in expecting it to be a wannabe cross between Toy Story and Roger Rabbit and in the end it was close to an Alice in Wonderland crossed with Wizard of Oz. My girlfriend put it best, they had all these balls rolling down the hill and you didn't know which one was going to get to the bottom first.

    Randomness

My friend and I refer to our wife/girlfriend as 'the skirt', as more of an ironic 60's throwback.
  24. A friend lent me Portal 2, I never played the first, so I'm new to this whole thing, but it's pretty amazing. For something so simple, it really hooks you in.
