  1. Spent the day catching up on NXT UK.  Still a week behind but it has been enjoyable.  The roster is more than solid and it really is just another NXT.  And I am completely okay with that.

Oh, and someone's grandfather keeps wandering out and everyone is really polite about it.  I know Johnny Saint is a legend and all, but he looks painfully lost at all times.

  2. Waited until the season was over to marathon it, but I just finished Lucha Underground season 4.  And it was a mixed bag.  You could tell the budget was smaller.  There was more in ring action and way less acting.  And that is my main issue.  I want the insanity that is LU.  I want dragons and magic gloves and the occasional murder killin'. That is what made the show so great.  Not to say that these things were absent, but they clearly focused resources on 5-7 big scenes.  I think at one point four episodes in a row had nothing outside the ring.  Now, the actual wrestling is still pretty dang great, but in 2018 I can get great wrestling most places.  I come to LU to see Paul London take a bad acid trip or AeroStar to do time traveling (which all reports I read seem to forget he can do).

  3. Watched the Sea of Honor tournament.  And it was alright.  It looked great on the boat, but the actual wrestling was just fine.  But one thing that bugged me was Matt Taven.  He was the worst guest commentator I have heard in a while.  The other contender for that title was Mandy Leon, sitting at the desk with him.  Bless Colt Cabana for trying, but he could not save it.

  4. I guess this is as good a place to ask as any:  Anyone know how to fix a podcast that will not download in iTunes?  I have tried all the normal things (unsubscribe, resubscribe, delete and try again) to no avail.  It was only happening to a new podcast I was going to try, but now it is happening to a podcast I've listen to for a while with no issue.

  5. Didn't seem to have the time to watch the Mae Young Classic semi-finals.  Also, had the winners spoiled way before the tournament aired, which always makes my interest go down.

But holy hell, I love Meiko Satomura.  Thought I had never seen her before this tournament, but turns out I had in a Chikara trios tournament.  I need to see more of her kicking people and being awesome.

  6. Been watching a lot of Stevie Ray Vaughan videos.  I've been a fan for years and have had all his albums since I was making mixtapes.  But watching him play is something else.

And I have no idea what look he was going for here, but it is awesome.

  7. Wanted something stupid, short and a maybe bit nostalgic to put on my phone, specifically so I had something to kill 45 minutes every Tuesday at work.  I chose Cleopatra 2525.  And it is wonderfully cheesy.  Three attractive women shooting lasers at robots while doing flips and shit.  I get why 15 year old me love it.  I get why 33 year old me loves it.

  8. Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Alistair Black, Velveteen Dream, Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong, Ricochet, Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, Trent Seven, Shayna Baszler, Kairi Sain.  Then you got War Raiders, Keith Lee and Matt Riddle who are all just starting/about to start.   And then there are lovable losers types like Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch.  Chris Hero is there too.

I say this with complete sincerity: I don't think there is anybody on the show that doesn't have something.

  9. Ricochet won last week on NXT with a springboard 450 rather than his 630 finisher.  And Meiko Satomura has had two matches in the Mae Young Classic and won with two different moves (DVD and Scorpion Kick).   And I think Lars beat EC3 a few weeks ago with a diving headbutt.  Not saying you are wrong, but those scrappy kids at Full Sail seem to be mixing things up recently.

  10. Watched this yesterday because it was $5 and I was bored.  Went in with the lowest of expectations.  I thought the trailers looked bad.  Wasn't exactly excited.

It was alright.  Kinda bog-standard comic book movie.  Straight popcorn. It didn't stay with me.  I normally let a movie sit with me for a day or so before I give thoughts.  I normally think about it randomly throughout the day.  I didn't think about Venom until I saw this thread.

To me, it comes down to Tom Hardy.  If you like his Eddie Brock, then you will probably like this movie.  I really didn't.  He was annoying for a good 80% of the time.

Last thing: I almost watched this on Sunday.  But the 2:20 runtime put me off a bit.  But it is not even close to 2:20.  Movie started at 1:20.  Credits started at like 3:10.  Then the LONGEST credits I have ever seen play.  And I'm brainwashed into staying until the end for that 'bonus' scene.  And then they just play five minutes of a different movie.

    Spoiler

As far as the mid credit scene, I expected the tease, but I didn't expect Woody.  Which give a slight interest into a character I have no love for.

  11. Predictably, to me at least, I finished season 2.  Judging from my last post, it took me about two weeks to watch 11 episodes.  And that is a thing with this show.  I never felt compelled to watch an episode.  And each episode did not encourage another.  It is just so slow.  The episodes are only an hour, but they felt so much longer.  I really don't know what to say about it.

I will note that the first five or so minutes of the last episode are straight out of a Shadow King / Professor X comic book battle.  It did not make up for everything else, but it looked cool.

  12. So, I'm in the crowd at an NXT event at Full Sail University.  Whatever match is happening, it is broken up with a run-in by Emma.  Then Emma introduces her new tag team partner, Radar O'Reilly.  Not Gary Burghoff.  Radar.  And he cuts a great babyface promo about wanting to be the best, but first he has to go home.  Jump cut to me and Radar arriving at an amalgam of my old job, my current job and the 4077.  We walk inside and Jamie Farr starts yelling at us for being late.  Not Klinger, Jamie Farr.  So, they start arguing.  I pick up a jar of salsa that is on the floor (because dream) and put it on the desk.  Jamie Farr picks it up mistaking it for his coffee cup and takes a huge chug and dream ends.

I get the wrestling part.  I watched NXT right before sleeping.  That makes sense.  But I haven't watched M*A*S*H in years.  No idea where that came from.

  13. Today I had to go check on my parents house while they enjoy vacation.  My mom wanted me to check that the basement wasn't flooded.  So I went down the stairs.  The stairs that I used to play on and fall down all the time.  Like all the time.  How else was Donatello supposed to do a quintuple backflip off a building onto Bebop unless I ran full speed down the stairs?   But I was 10 and made of rubber then.  20+ years later and falling down stairs isn't as much fun.  In fact, it hurts like a motherfucker.

In other news, I have no idea where I put my knee brace.

  14. So, I've had season two just sitting here since it aired.  Didn't want to watch week to week and then I wanted to watch other things first.  Finally thought 'Right, it is only 11 episodes, it is a rainy weekend, let's just kill the season and move on.'  And I watched one episode after college football yesterday and I cannot muster up whatever to continue today.  And it is not like it is all that different than season one.  It is still the 'Wacky, Crazy, Smart' show, but cranked up a couple of levels.  This requires a level of concentration that I simply cannot provide in a marathon type situation.

  15. The 'Who Attacked Alistair Black" story in NXT is this amazing mix of corny, stupid and awesome.  The security footage being 'enhanced ' to 'clearly' see a lone figure standing on a rooftop?  I love it so much.  And what impresses me is that Black gets hurt and they put this all together in a few days.   And I have no idea who will be revealed as the attacker.  A mystery that is an actual mystery?  Bold move.

Been dealing with a dog that will not shut the fuck up.  It is my neighbors dog.  We share a common wall and when the neighbor goes out, the dog will whimper and whine and bark.  For hours on end.  I had informed the landlord as I could never catch the neighbor at home.  Today was the fourth (possibly fifth) time I made a complaint.  I made a point that I really did not want to file a noise complaint, but I had inquired at the police station if I had a valid claim.  And indeed I do.  But I really do not want to go that route.  But whatever was being done to stop the nonstop barking was clearly not working.  I think I have been pretty reasonable up until now so I may need to take that step.

Magically, I get a knock on my door.  Oh hey, it is my neighbor I've never seen before with a small little dog.  A tiny girl, maybe 19, with a small little dog that is a recently retired service dog that is apparently going thru anxiety issues.  Wonderful.  She apologized and offered the explanation/excuse.

And here I am now.  If the dog barks again I can either just sit on my couch and grow increasing annoyed or be a massive asshat and file a noise complaint on a young girl and her anxiety ridden service dog.  Fuck.

    FUCK. THIS. DOG.

  17. Okay, Cloak & Dagger.  I plowed thru this over the weekend.  So many thoughts about specific things so spoiler tags for that.  General idea: Took way too long to get where they got.  Season 2 should be better.

    Spoiler

First thing first: It took way too long for the leads to get together on the same page.  The entire show is them in entirely different plots.  Then the season finale happens and suddenly it is all "I'll die for you.  You complete me.  Lets be BFFs."  It just felt entirely unearned.  And speaking of unearned.  Everything to do with the detective was unearned.  It felt like 2-3 episodes worth of just her were missing.  It was a rather disjointed introduction, then a relationship with Ty was forged entirely off screen.

And then the rather big thing with the detective was the fridging of her boyfriend.  Don't get me wrong, he was clearly dead from the start.  Not for a second did I doubt that.  (I did think he was going to be corrupt and then get shot, so 50/50).  But sticking him in the fridge was done for exactly one reason.  I swear I had some sort of brilliant point to make here, but I got up to reset my router and I cannot for the life of me remember what it was.  But it was brilliant.

And playing Come Sail Away over the top of the big 'exciting' season climax was a genuine laugh out loud moment.  Soo very bad.

  19. I'd say NXT does the best with their champions, if you count NXT as WWE (and I can understand both sides of that discussion).  Everyone has an eye of the champion, title shots have to be earned and they don't happen all that often.  Beyond being just an amazing match, the most recent Mustache Mountain vs. Undisputed Era match was entirely about how important the Tag Team Championships were to those four men.

Side note: If you haven't watched that match, do so.  I went in spoiled (which I hate and normally kills it for me) and it didn't matter.  I was totally sucked in and loved every minute.
