  1. I will admit that I was interested in the Cena/Nexus storyline when Cena was fired. I will admit to liking the Cena promo the next night. I will admit to thinking they would do something interesting. But no. What we get is something that I feel actively insults us. This is just bad. So very bad.

  2. Still on my continuing quest to watch all the wrestling I have on DVD. I think I will finish sometime in 2024, but progress is progress.

Which brings me to the disc I just finished. Bloodsport: The Most Violent Matches of ECW Disc 1. This, with one exception, was a horrid thing to watch. As I think I said about the Greastest Wrestlers of the 80s DVD, this was an interesting look into the history of wrestling. Like it or not, ECW has a place in history. But, I still don't have to like it.

I was not a fan of wrestling while ECW was around. I think the first I knew of them was when Tazz showed up with the ECW belt on Smackdown. So, I bought this DVD years ago so see what it was all about. And what I saw was shit.

The only match I enjoyed was a four corners match of Chris Jericho vs. Shane Douglas vs. 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Pitbull #2. Why did I enjoy it? Beyond a bit at the end, they stayed away from the hardcore. The other matches? Way too much hardcore for me. Now, complaining about the violence on a DVD that promotes the most violent matches is a bit stupid. I get that.

But, I don't think I can watch these type of matches anymore. I used to enjoy a hardcore match here and there as little as five years ago. Heck, I was always entertained by an IWA:MS match that had two guys throw VCRs at each others heads. But after all we have learned about concussions and head trauma, I just can't. I cannot watch a match that has Sabu and RVD throwing chairs at each others heads and get enjoyment out of it.

I cannot remember what match it was, but during this DVD Joey Styles says the following "That chair shot was delivered C.O.D. Concussion On Delivery.". That really didn't sit well with me as it just gave the impression that the ECW crew didn't take the dangers of concussions seriously. Granted, they didn't know what we know now, but that doesn't make it any less unsettling. And honestly, I don't think that knowledge would have made any difference.

So, I am going to put this DVD back on the shelf and watch many other DVDs before I even attempt to get through disc 2.

  3. As for checks, my store switched to an electronic checking system. Basically, writing a check in the store is the same as using your debit card. The money is transferred immediately and the customer gets their check back. Generally speaking, like Will said, most people have stopped using checks. I write one check a month, and that is for rent which can only be paid with check or money order.

  4. Reason #7807954 I have ruined Christmas this year for someone.

Her side: I am not taking her check because I heard her on the phone with her bank for about half an hour. She spends $1000 a week in the store and demands respect for such actions. I am depriving her children a Wii while her husband is in Afghanistan fighting for my freedom. I am un-American and should be fired on the spot.

The truth: Yeah, I heard her on the phone with her bank. She was trying to get a new ATM card as her magnetic strip stopped working. I don't care. She wrote a check for over $200. As such, I must ask for ID. When the check is in her husbands name, I say I cannot accept the check as her name is not on the check. When she claims to have power of attorney, I state that unless the check states her POA, then there is nothing I can do.

The result: She yells at me and my boss for a bit and then leaves. Her mother, who was in a wheelchair with a broken foot, apologized for her daughter before she wheeled herself.

Five more weeks of this holiday shit and then I can go back to seeing five people every shift.

  6. I had a rather insane woman call into work today. Three phone calls in about a five minute span as I kept hanging up on her. These are the highlights.

"I don't want to speak to you. You're a man and don't know shit."

"I want to buy the new Michael Jackson CD and you don't have it and I'm gonna come in there and kick your ass if you don't have a copy."

"You don't hang up on someone asshole. It is rude."

"I'm tired. I'm gonna call back at 3 o'clock and if you don't have what I want then I will come in and shoot your fucking ass. Bye."

  7. So I am at work this morning and it is surprisingly slow. A woman is looking at the movies and asks if I have any Elmo DVDs. I show her the four that I have, but she wants the Christmas Elmo DVD. I say that I cannot remember having that one and to check the holiday section just in case. She is aghast that I dare not have it.

Fast forward twenty minutes later, she finds it in a dump bin. She then asks how long I have been working at the store. I question the relevance of the question and I get the following quote.

"You should know your products better. If I worked here I would take a little more pride in my work. I would know where things are and how much they cost. I would know how they work and if they are any good. If you cannot do that, you shouldn't work in this department."

Then she walks off. Then she checks out. Then she speaks to my manager. Which to his credit, he tell her that I know more than most at the store and he does not see an issue with me not knowing where one DVD is. She then vowed to never shop here again.

These holiday shoppers are getting to be too much.

  8. I would like to be able to buy a cell phone. I didn't know that they don't exist anymore. All I can find are these mobile internet things that also make phone calls. Also, they will cost me an extra $30 a month for features I don't want. Looks like I am just going to wait until my phone is completely dead before replacing it.

  9. A few helpful hits while holiday shopping:

    - Know what system you are buying video games for. No, they are not universal.

    - Do not ask for the DVD of movies that are still in the theater.

    - Most importantly, DO NOT YELL at the employee if the store is sold out of a popular item. We have no control over that. If it makes you feel better, I will make a PS3 out of a cardboard shoe box, but I doubt it will play the games as well.

    - Hang up your cell phone. It is rude to be on the phone while I am trying to help you.

    - If I am helping a customer, I am not ignoring you. I am answering their question since they were there first. When I am finished with them, you will get your turn.

In conclusion, don't be an asshole.

So glad I have a day off tomorrow.

  11. So I went. It was entertaining enough. Not all that crowded and plenty to look at and spend money I don't have on things I don't need. Worst part was I parked on the wrong side of the convention center. Live & Learn.

  12. I hate layaway. I get the fact that it is getting people in the store in record numbers. I believe we are already at 85% of what we did the entirety of last year and we still have 2+ months to go. However, we are quickly running out of room to put everything. This is about to get ugly real fast and I will be the one in charge of fixing it. Gah. We should charge more than $5.

  13. I hate ESPN (sometimes) & the Yankees (all the time).

The Texas Rangers just make it to their first World Series and all I hear is "how do the Yankees fix things in the off season?" Fuck that. We all know they will spend Monopoly money and get Cliff Lee, Jason Worth, Carl Crawford, and finance a scientist to build a time machine to get Babe Ruth back.

Can't we just celebrate the Rangers?

  14. I finally finished the Greatest Superstars of the 80s DVD. It was not good.

The mini documentaries were good, as were the bonus interviews. But the matches all sucked. Sure, they were kinda interesting in a historical sense, but they mostly bored me to tears.

Back when I was a die-hard fan, I would have eaten this up with a spoon and asked for more. Now? Not at all. Makes me not want to watch the rest of the DVDs I have had forever and never watched. The Hogan anthology is one that really fills me with dread.

  15. So here are the highlights of my day:

When I get to work, I find out that my department has been fucked over by a new assistant manager. When I call her on it, I am told to "mind my own business". I am told this in front of the store manager, so she gets reprimanded, but still puts me a a fowl mood.

Get called to help the security person. We stop the shoplifter. He is going back to get processed when he decides to turn around and run for it. In the process of that he gets out of the building by going through me. All for a bottle of cologne.

Get back from lunch and my back stiffens up and my neck is throbbing. Then I get a bad headache. Go to the chiropractor and find out that I am so far out of alignment that one leg is a full inch shorter than the other. Fun!

Then go to my parents house to feed the cat while they are on vacation. Once there I find a destroyed mail box. Now, my dad rigged a damn near illegal mallbox and post. So for this to be destroyed, something big had to have happened. And three house down I see a fucked up car in the middle of the yard. Now I spend my next few hours talking to my neighbors, calling my parents, filling out a accident report, ect.

Now as I sit on my couch, my headache has come back and my neck has started to hurt again. And my roommate has apparently taken all the aspirin that was in the house.

I think I need to just go and sleep until Friday.

  16. So I watched TNA last night. By watched, I mean, TNA was background noise on my TV last night. I must say, I learned something. Swinging a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire makes you a hero. Swinging a 2x4 with nails in it makes you a villain. Who knew?

  17. Some asshats called the health department on the Reds because they were smoking cigars in their clinching celebration. I just don't understand how some people can be that uptight.
