  1. I have a friend who's first real convention experience is going to be Mid-Ohio Con at the beginning of October. I'm going to make sure he listens to this episode as a precaution against any bad behavior.
  2. There are BUT most are on vacation since classes start in two weeks. I'm leaning towards taking the quarter off anyway since I'm also in the process of looking at grad schools so that'll probably free up some time I can use to make any necessary road trips.
  3. I'm going to admit now, everything I'm about to say is my own fault. So, one of the only things I have left to do before I graduate is to take Spanish 201 and 202 which is Second Year Spanish. The problem is that it's been about three years since I finished First Year Spanish and I haven't studied at all all summer. My classes start on the eighth so I'm down to the wire about what I'm going to do. I only have 3 courses tops outside of Spanish that I need to take to graduate and I still have Winter and Spring quarter I can accomplish that all in. So, debating about taking Fall Quarter off, studying my ass off, then take Spanish 201 in the Winter or take a couple of classes in the fall, at least one of which will be a class I don't need to graduate, and spend money I can save for later.
  4. True that. I think they tacked it into the event to make it sell better. Regardless, I'm picking this up because I need at least a bit of my Babs fix. If it doesn't have me within the first three issues, it's gone like Donkey Kong.
  5. I'm trying to figure out who the chick in purple is supposed to be (Not Starfire.)
  6. Bah, I do the same thing and you just have to put up with the smell of rotting corpses when you get home from work and once you have a body disposal routine ready, it's cake.

    Randomness

So, while waiting in Chicago for my train last night, I saw this guy dressed as a Benedictine monk only his robe was Leopard print. He has bibles and everything while wearing a leopard print Benedictine robe.
  8. According to Doctor Who Magazine, Tennant's last episode is going to be 75 minutes and be titled
  9. Well, kinda glad now that my trip fell through then. Oh well, always next year.
  10. Under your suggestion, I bought Mister B. Gone the other day. Read it in one sitting. I think I'm in love with Clive Barker.

Being in Montana for a week then reading everything here has made me realize that God I need the internet to survive. Oh, and Des's kids are the very epitome of awesome.

Leaving on vacation for two week at 5:30 this morning and won't be back until the 23rd so a Happy Birthday to anyone who's Birthdays I miss and god I'm going to miss the internet. I'm going to turn the compy back on in two weeks and tons of podcasts, webcomics, and way too many pages of posts waiting for me. Oh well, need to pack etc.
  13. Is Scarlett as hot as she looked in the trailer? Scarlett isn't that bad looking. I'll admit, I've always been a Baroness guy myself so I'm not the one to talk to. I'm sorry, I find glasses sexy.
  14. John Hughes, we won't forget about you. No, no, no, no.
  15. Just saw it (I dressed up like Shipwreck. Don't ask.) and I got to say, it was a terrible movie but at least it was laughably bad unlike Transformers where I wanted to inflict physical pain upon myself. I could see watching this movie when I need to make fun of something and Showgirls or Batman & Robin isn't readily available. That all said, it does have some bad moments and Christopher Eccleston is the shining light in it.

    Secret Six

Back issues aren't terribly hard to find or expensive. I've been slowly collecting the first few arcs from various cons and stores and got the first issue from a one dollar bin.
  17. My thoughts on the Gotham Knights Batman are simple: It's nicely minimalist and gets across a lot of the Joker's cartoony nature. I don't see some of the Gotham Knights Joker facial expressions seeming half as endearing with the BTAS design. The Return of the Joker and Justice League designs are more than a little more creepy as all fuck because they almost feel more alive to me at times. Regardless, all have awesome pluses and minuses to them and all work for a character with a multiple choice background. It gets across the Joker's need to reinvent himself, to be a being of chaos, never quite the same.
  18. Has anyone told you that you rock lately?
  19. Animaniacs as a whole was a brilliant show. There were a few misfires but it was, overall, probably the best non-action animated series of the Nineties. The one major misfire? The Hip Hippos. Can anyone think of a single redeeming feature to the Hip Hippos?
  20. ...wow... So, Dinah knows because the Birds are pretty chummy and everyone else knows because Oracle probably posted it on a message board. Hell, she probably has a site on the side. (Powergirl and The Atom play Hide and Seek. Just try to guess where she finds him.) The sad part is that I'm trying to think of an in-continuity point where that could have happened. It does give me an excuse to re-read some Birds of Prey.
  21. Or this power which trumps anything anyone else can do.
  22. I've always been convinced that J'onn is more powerful than Supes. Superman may be a little physically stronger and J'onn's weakness maybe a little more common but the telepathy and shape-shifting make it that much more a clinch in J'onn's corner.

    Poor Cyclops

They've been somewhat accepted by the people of San Fransisco but it's doing a slow cool down. I'll also agree that Carey is doing some of the best work with the X-Men I've seen since Grant Morrison's run. Claremont was still tolerable back then and the only cloud was Chuck Austen but the guy's really a terrible writer to begin with so let's not think of that (Seriously, Nightcrawler is descended from Mutant Demons and Angel is from Mutant Angels? Dear god, who stabbed metaphor and pissed on it's body?). The only one of the Satelite books to pick up would probably be X-Factor but that's just because Peter David kicks all kinds of ass. On subject, I am finding Cyclops slowly more and more tolerable. Let's see if that lasts, shall we?
