  1. What made me laugh was that your most loathed episode was featured in episode 101.
  2. Wow, this is really happening! When I first proposed this podcast to Mike I would never have thought that by the end of it there would be brand new Blake's 7 to watch. If this goes to a series we could be running longer than I originally intended.
  3. I watched Neverwhere when it was first broadcast. I was 19 at the time and I was completely drawn in. It was my first exposure to Neil Gaiman's work and the one that is still my favourite. I know Gaiman was bitterly disappointed that the show was filmed on video rather than film and it can't be denied that the overall look of the show suffers as a result. It's a shame as the production design and coustumes are really good and it's a pity the the BBC didn't see fit to thorw some more money at it as it could have looked stunning. If you enjoyed the Neverwhere novel I would strongly recommend you seek out Kraken by China MiƩville. It is another urban fantasy book that draws inspiration from Neverwhere while adding a modern twist on magic and in Goss and Subby it has two killers-for-hire so chilling they make Croup and Vandamar look like Eagle scouts.
  4. Seven Soldiers is pretty much the only comic series that I managed to get every issue of when it was first released. Back in the good old days when I had a standing order at a comic book store.
  5. Thank you for your kind words regarding Shake and Blake and myself...of course how Mr Wilson feels about it may be a different matter
  6. When I say that Ian will gaze into the Fist of Toland I imagnie it going down something like this Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  7. So, the new Who companion has been annoucnced. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-17456505
  8. The Virgin Missing Adventures are deffinately worth a look. Especially Gareth Roberts' trilogy of Fourth Doctor and Romana books The Romance of Crime, The English Way of Death and The Well Mannered War. He pefercly captures the spirit of the Graham Williams era Doctor and Romana. The Virgin books were Roberts break into writing and he has since written The Shakespere Code, The Lodger and Closing Time as well as working on The Sarah Jane Adventures. I was extremely pleased when the alien race he invented for the several new and missing Adventures, The Chelonians, were mentioned in The Pandorica Opens as that now makes them canon.
  9. I not sure it's a copyright thing. If that were the case then wouldn't the comic have to be called something different as well for the same reason? While I adore The Avengers and my mind immediately goes to Mrs Peel when I hear the name I'm not sure it's as big a thing in pop culture as it used to be. You may be right though.
  10. Apparently in the UK the film is going to be called Marvel Avengers Assemble. Presumably because they think we will confuse this film... Uploaded with ImageShack.us ...with this film Uploaded with ImageShack.us Which we are all trying very hard to forget about.
  11. Why not try sending it to shakeandblake@geekplanetonline.com It's easy to remember and trips off the tongue
  12. Glad you are enjoying the show Muppet. Hope to have some feedback from you at somepoint to keep Ian from recording any more songs
  13. He was in Doctor Who and the Silurians as well playing a UNIT Captain.
  14. Glad you enjoyed Paul Darrow. As we have discussed on Shake and Blake he has a very theatrical style of acting which translates as a complete inability to sit on a chair naturally and we love him for it. However, his performance in Timelash makes his acting in Blake's 7 look like understated method.
  15. Tommyrot sir. it's a high point of the show.
  16. Watching Fringe series 3 and the Twin Peaks box set I got for my girlfriend this Christmas. I'd forgotten how much I loved the character of Dale Cooper
  17. I have read in a couple of places that Jericho may be riffing on the worst parts of John Cena's face persona. If that's the case it's a genuis move by Jericho to use everything the fans hate about Cena and channel it into a heel character that ironically the fans will probably love.
  18. I stood up for you boss.
  19. Ah, yes. I remember now. I didn't make the connection. Possibly due to the lack of midgets.
  20. I think people needed to see what we were talking about.
  21. Dan, you completely summed up my feelings for The Caves of Androzani perfectly. The best Who story of all time. Nothing touches it.
  22. In the Silence in the Library River says that the last time she saw the Doctor he had a haircut and new suit. I wonder if that is her coy way of saying that he had recently regenerated.
  23. Great podcast guys. I love the Five Doctors. It was the first Doctor Who video I ever owned. Mainly I think because my Mother bought it for me because it had more Doctors in it so was better value for money. With regards to Susan name checking the Cybermen, she sees them on the TARDIS scanner after her encounter with them in the Death Zone where Tegan identified them by name so I think that explains why she knows what they are.
  24. I bloody love Enlightenment. Davison is great and there are great supporting turns as well. I'm surprised that Tegan's dress didn't get a mention. Is it wrong that I kinda fancy Captain Wrack?
  25. I hear he does that now. Just bursts into random places, flexes for a bit and moves on. Like Caine in Kung Fu.
