Missy
Vin Diesel will star as Agent 47 in 20th Century Fox's upcoming adaptation of Hitman, the best-selling video game franchise from Eidos and developer IO Interactive. Diesel also will serve as executive producer. Charles Gordon and Adrian Askarieh are producing through their respective companies, Daybreak Productions and Prime Universe Productions. Daniel Alter will co-produce. The game's story centers on an international assassin known as Agent 47 who works for a mysterious organization dubbed the Agency. The first three games in the franchise have sold more than 10 million units. Eidos plans to release another sequel, "Hitman: Blood Money," this fall. "'Hitman' is a project that by the virtue of its DNA can and will reach far beyond its already substantial core audience," Askarieh said. "The canvas on which this adventure takes place is something that movie audiences have embraced for the last 40 years. We obviously are delighted to have Vin Diesel on board, too -- he and Agent 47 are a match made in heaven."
J Marv
I would have preferred Jason Statham, but Vin Diesel is a serviceable enough actor. I'm curious as to what storyline they're going to use, and what kind of movie it's going to be, as much of the games involve sneaking around. JackFetch
Vin Diesel is out. USA Today has published this new photo from 20th Century Fox's Hitman, opening October 12 and starring Timothy Olyphant, Dougray Scott, Olga Kurylenko, Michael Offei, Robert Knepper and Ulrich Thomsen. In the video game adaptation, Agent 47 (Olyphant) has been educated to become a professional assassin for hire, whose most powerful weapons are his nerve and a resolute pride in his work. 47 is both the last two digits of the barcode tattooed on the nape of his neck, and his only name. The hunter becomes the hunted when 47 gets caught up in a political takeover. Both Interpol and the Russian military chase the Hitman across Eastern Europe as he tries to find out who set him up and why they're trying to take him out of the game. But the greatest threat to 47's survival may be the stirrings of his conscience and the unfamiliar emotions aroused in him by a beautiful, damaged girl... Holacik
I like Olyphant but from the teaser they showed before die hard 4 left me quite 'meh'.

JackFetch
I don't know. I checked and nothing else worthwhile comes out that day, so it must be production problems.
Overload
a Hitman movie...that's awesome. He was there to kill LaSorda...it took a few years but he figured it would be untraceable if he just fed him to death.
Dread
Director, Xavier Gens, pulled from film after his cut was too violent. Nicholas de Toth, sawbones in charge of making Live Free or Die Hard bloodless, has been called in to chop the film from what would have been a hard R. Look for a bloodless Hitman! JackFetch
Well, now we know why they delayed it.

JackFetch
Can't we have just one for us adults? Seriously. It's about a guy that gets paid to kill people. That's not for the kids.

JackFetch
Well in all fairness Die Hard was still decent... Yes, but it didn't feel like a Die Hard movie because of it's rating.

It felt, to me, like the version you see on television: "Yippee Ki-Ay bad guy" Happy birthday, by the way.
JackFetch
According to IGN, he was not taken off the film because of too much violence, and the film will be R rated. Studio sources confirmed that De Toth has been hired as an editor, but not "controlling the project" as TwitchFilms stated. We were informed, "Director Xavier Gens is still working on the film. The film still has intense action and will definitely be rated 'R.'" Our source strongly denied that Fox is softening the final cut and called the original report untrue. They emphasized that it will still be a true "R" and a not a "bloodless version". http://au.movies.ign.com/articles/826/826204p1.html
JackFetch
I don't like this guy in this role. He doesn't look right. I thought maybe he was too young, but he's almost 40, so I don't know what it is.
JackFetch
I saw a commercial for Hitman on tv today and was underwhelmed. The tagline was that a sinner was going to become a saint and it didn't explain anything about the movie. Watch the trailer here instead. http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/hitman/
MaxPower
Has anyone seen this? I wasn't going to, but I really like Timothy Olyphant as an actor (ever since Scream 2) so I think I'm going to check it out. I've never played the games though, so it will be from a movie goers perspective.
Guest
It's a guns blazing action movie about a video game that punishes people for going in with guns blazing. There's no possible way that this is good on any conceivable level. I'll see it if James does though, just for the sake of bitching about it.
