The second one was good, and I don't recall ever playing the third. But the first one was clearly the best.

Rule #1 of most game series - The original is always the best.

Hate to disagree with you... wait, no I don't... anyway, Super Mario Bros. 3 is way better than the original. For the most part you're right -- but it isn't always the case.

Metal Gear Solid was technically the third in the series...

GTA3 was technically the fourth.

Mario Kart 64 was number 2

Final Fantasy 7 was number 7 (I personally prefer 9, but this seems to be most people's favourite)

Fire Emblem 1 was clearly not as good as the others.

Secret of Mana 3 owned Secret of Mana 1

Most are better, not all of them and some are arguable.

And btw, I thought the SNES version of Mario Kart was better than MK64.
