slothian
As part of our Comic Reel-lief Lists project, and after many years of Tom ceaselessly nagging me to watch it, I finally sat down and wached Unbreakable. The result? I really bloody enjoyed it and thank Tom for his quest to get me to watch a film fully worthy of my attention! As part of our Comic Reel-lief Lists project, and after a few less years of me ceaselessly nagging Tom to watch it, he would sit down and wach Faust: Love of the Damned. The result? .........ehh, I'll let him finish that one. dc20willsave
Double Team: It's got a crazy ending... and not much else. How to Train Your Dragon 2: This is a series that has surprised me. I hadn't expected the first one to be so awesome and I definitely didn't expect the second to out do the first. Just a terrific animated film filled with heart and action. A Talking Cat?!?: I had some friends who hadn't seen it before. Just as dumb as the first time but I honestly don't mind it as much anymore. Jupiter Ascending: While not as bad as I expected, it's still bloody terrible with entire subplots that make no sense at all. Most of the movie makes beyond no sense but still, it looks pretty most of the time so I guess that counts for something. Dread
Mud: If there's any justice in the world, this will be considered a classic of American cinema in the future. Dread
Pretty Peaches: Vinegar Syndrome sent me what I thought was a 70s softcore porn comedy. It doesn't fit the purview of the show, so I never covered it. Then, last night I watched Mud and the latest episode of Hannibal and had no idea what to watch next. I put it on. Turns out, it's a pretty funny 70s hardcore porn. Very weird. Hairy too. You're welcome. Feature Films: 83 Documentaries:

Dread
Decline of Western Civilization: 10 years before Wayne's World, director Penelope Spheeris documented the Los Angeles hardcore punk scene by filming shows and interviews between December 1979 and May 1980. It reminds me very much of the scene I came up in and also reminded me of how undrerrated, Black Flag, Circle Jerks, X and Fear are. Fear is probably the greatest punk band in the world. Their method of not starting a show before provoking the crowd into trying to fight them is well-documented here. Insane. The Germs, on the other hand, are probably the most overrated band of all time. Darby Crash was a waste of skin. Thank god for this box set. Can't wait to watch the Metal Years sequel. slothian
Just finished watching Hitchcock's Notorious for the first time. I thought Bergman and Grant were very good, but Claude Reins was absolutely stellar. I'm at the point where I'm going to track down all of his films because if HAA! ever gets round to covering a golden age Hollywood actor - which is unlikely to be soon given Pandy's reticence to give Kevin Kline a run out - Reins would definitely be on my list.
