Episode #18

Very nice varied show. Some thoughts:

- Loved the wrestling story!

- Good review of V for Vendetta. Challenges me to come up with a specific angle for my segment in a few weeks!

- DW: Great segment. Seriously good to see someone with a huge knowledge of his favourite genre show it off. Possibly a bit long, but you have a clear structure so it isn't a problem. Will be PM-ing you something when I've posted this. Nice theme music too.

- The music. It hurt the show in my eyes. I don't mind it being used to break up segments (although you've proven that you can move from segment to segment easily in the past, so I do wonder why it was put in) but it didn't seem to fit, especially with the Batman Beyond music you use for the into and outro of the show. Just curious as to why it was used, really.

Here's a link to his blog if you want to read that guy's side of the story. And here's his buddy's.

I actually hate the way Jen and I transition from one segment / topic to another. It's always me saying "So..." or "I guess we're done with that" or you'll hear paper (the show notes) rustling as we move forward. Also, if you recall, I've been saying I wanted to use music to segment the show since very early on. So while the change is jarring, this has been coming for a while now.

The music, however, will not be overused and will be limited to very specific points:

01. Each show will now contain comic book, video game and / or movie news, and the music will be used to introduce (and exit) that segment. This will also serve as a lead-in to our main topic.

02. At the end of our topic another quick clip will play to announce that we're heading into the back half of the show.

And that's it.

A few notes about my segment.

1) The main character's name in Still Life is Victoria, not Veronica. I knew this as I was saying it, but for some reason, didn't correct myself.

2) Street Fighter 1 apparently is going to be in the next collection... for the PSP version. <_<

3) The reason I didn't go too in depth with Guitar Hero is because I'm going to do a written review next week, which I forgot to SHILL~! Since G3 is bi-weekly, I'm going to try and do a review for the site every off week, so one week, G3, the next, a review, then G3 again, etc.

4) I can't apologize enough for the length. My goal was 15 minutes at the absolute most, but once I got running, there was no stopping, and nothing that I really thought I could take out. I'll try to keep future installments a bit more condensed, and perhaps not go so in depth with the Top 5.

Glad you liked it Sloth!

Don't worry about it. The length of your segment allowed Jen and I to shorten our half. ;)

Add me to the group that really didn't like the music, just didn't like it, cept for going to DW, that shit was great.

Wrestling story was great, though why the guy would do that shit is dumb, spitting on a blooied BJ Whitmer, I'd run.

The guy who spit on BJ and the guy who got into the ring were not the same. In fact, the BJ thing happened about a year ago.

I'm fine with the music, and it was a good show - I've finally joined the 21st century, and gotten an MP3 player, so I can listen on the go at long last.

DW - good segment, but the name of your segment could also be GGG, which is also the name of a German Porn company, which specialises in Bukakke, which means that I found it highly amusing.

Erm....not that I've watched any....

  • 4 weeks later...

I've been a little hesitant to press play on the last few episodes because a short while back there was a spoiler alert and I didn't want anything talked about that I hadn't read yet... I took episode 18 for a spin on the way to work and loved it! From the wrestling story that kicked it off, to the V discussion (I haven't finished it yet, the G3 segment is about a minute or two in)... well, ya did it. Y'all made me want to make sure I'm all caught up.. So I'll be listening at work when I can, but I think I'll listen to 21 on the way home tonight.

Can someone give me an idea as to how long or whereabouts the movie is spoiled in D.W.'s segment? It's not biggie I don't think if anything is touched on as it's gonna be a while before I get to see the movie (it'll either be on DVD or cable by the time I have a spare couple hours).

Mike, Jenny, take a bow... I'm happy to sync your show to my iPod.

It's actually Ian who drops a few V spoilers during Episode 21, and I think they're scattered throughout. So if you haven't seen V yet, skip the last 30-35 minutes of E21.

Awesome! We're taking this week off due to illness and something falling through (my fault, RE: illness), but we'll return next week with a review of Silent Hill.

D'Oh!! My bad... Sorry about that Ian and D.W. Thanks for the tip on the time.

Dang. Sorry to hear that. Hope everything's looking up. Now it's time to leave work...
