Yes, there is a bigger storyline running throughout (RE: Superman is dying from sun poisoning), but you don't need to invest in four, five or six issues to get a complete story. One good thing Crisis did. Yea and it's like way complex too. Green kryptonite is melted down and refined to black and then its drilled in half and painted with polka dots...
