Where the Wild Things Are

Recommended Posts

Everybody should remember this one from their childhood. It's being directed by Spike Jonze.

From Wiki:

The movie will combine live action, suitmation, animatronics and CGI.

The seven creatures will be actors in up to 275 centimetres tall suits made of foam, althought it is expected that their faces will be computer-generated.

Warner Bros. Pictures this week took director Spike Jonze's big screen adaptation Where the Wild Things Are off of its release schedule after it was previously pushed back to a fall of 2009 release. So what's the official word? The Los Angeles Times talked to Warner Bros. chief Alan Horn, who said:

"We've given him more money and, even more importantly, more time for him to work on the film," Horn said. "We'd like to find a common ground that represents Spike's vision but still offers a film that really delivers for a broad-based audience. We obviously still have a challenge on our hands. But I wouldn't call it a problem, simply a challenge. No one wants to turn this into a bland, sanitized studio movie. This is a very special piece of material and we're just trying to get it right."

The adventure follows the adventures of Max, a head-strong young boy who leaves home after having a fight with his mother -- only to find himself in a mysterious forest bordering a vast sea. Misunderstood and rebellious, Max sets sail to the land of the Wild Things, where mischief reigns. Catherine Keener, Benicio Del Toro, Forest Whitaker, Lauren Ambrose, Catherine O'Hara, Tom Noonan, Michael Berry and James Gandolfini star.

Read: Spike is an art film director and we shouldn't have hired an art film director if we didn't want an art film so we're throwing a shit-ton of money at him to make a more homogenized film that won't make children think as much.

I don't care how bad the movie is, this is the greatest poster I've ever seen. I want this on my wall.

You know for a minute there I mixed up Spike Jonze and Spike Lee.......

Looks alright, I'll wait for the DVD.

The Spike Lee version would be hilarious.

Watched about 20 minutes of this tonight (the woods playing scene) and I adored it immensely. Got the DVD from "Davin" for my birthday and will most certainly take the whole thing in pretty soon.
