You have goo squirted on your torso, the nurse rolls a camera over your flesh and takes images whilst you hold your breath. And after the pictures are taken, the nurse shows me live images of my own organs, which she labels for me and describes what they do. I'd feel patronised if I weren't so ignorant of human biology. Apparently my liver is carrying some extra fat, but I won't understand the significance of that until tomorrow morning when I see my temporary GP, who will, at a guess, say that this is a bad thing and that my life will improve by doing strenuous exercise and not drink any alcohol ever for the rest of my natural life.
