Transformers Fox to Hack/Slash?

image Megan Fox may be getting a killer of a job shortly. While the rumor that she has expressed interest starring in an adaptation of Hack/Slash isn’t new, the apparent confirmation that Fox is interested in the role is. The confirmation surfaced on Fox’s official MySpace page and was first brought to the ‘net’s attention by Creature Corner yesterday, prompting me to write this story and run a picture of the lovely Ms. Fox from UGO’s Actress Archives...because the internet needs more pictures of her.

Hack/Slash is a series of comic books that take a post-modern spin on slasher movies like Halloween, Friday the 13th and so on. The main character is Cassie Hack, a young woman that saw her mother brutally murder a bunch of people, kill herself and then come back from the dead to become a supernatural “slasher”. Cassie had to end her mom’s undead existence and now travels the country finding other small towns where a slasher is located, battling them to bring their reign of terror to its conclusion. She’s accompanied by a towering mute and masked behemoth known only as Vlad. There have been several Hack/Slash miniseries so far as well as a stage play (!) adaptation.

When a photo of Megan Fox and Cassie Hack are laid down side-by-side, the two of them look virtually identical. It would certainly be accurate casting if Fox lands the part.

Marcus Nispel, who directed last summer's Conan the Barbarian, has come aboard to helm Hack/Slash, Relativity’s adaptation of a horror-action comic book.

Alexandra Milchan, Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter are producing.

The project has seen several writers and directors come and go since it first was set up at Universal’s now-deceased genre division Rogue Pictures, which later was acquired by Relativity.Hack/Slash, created by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli, centers on Cassie Hack, a woman who symbolizes the cliché of the lone girl who survives at the end of every horror movie. In this case, the girl not only survived but has become a killer of killers. Hack travels across the country hunting slashers in the vein of Halloween's Michael Myers, Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees and A Nightmare on Elm Street's Freddy Krueger, along with a hulking protector named Vlad.

Nispel briefly flirted with the project, which last had Fredrik Bond attached, but came back to it late last year.

Nispel is well known in the hacking-and-slashing business. On top of Conan, the commercials-turned-feature helmer directed the recent remakes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th as well as a Viking movie titled Pathfinder.
