Do let me know what you think. I'd love to have an Evangelion ending debate. :P

End of Evangelion was interesting to say the least. To tell you the truth, I wasn't satisfied with the either of the ones we got. The tv show ending was rather hard to follow and I was the one who had to explain it to people. The End of Evangelion ending was depressing to the extreme and it had some other flaws, namely the it just cemented that Rei was not an interesting character and she was just a doll. It did have Asuka's crowning moment of awesome though. I have to say the thing I'm looking forward to about Rebuild is the new ending. It's already given me a Rei that has a personality that I can give a shit about. Maybe it can giv me an ending that lives up to the series.

I was actually satisfied with the original ending, cause I saw it as the mental view of what was going on during Instrumentality. End of Evangelion expanded on what was actually going on, and gave more context to the psychologicalness of Eps 25 and 26.

I've seen the first movie of the Rebuild, I'm not quite sure what to think, as it just felt like a recap with a few major plot points moved up that don't really make that much sense where they are currently. Don't know if the second one's been subbed as of yet. Interested to see what they do.

There are fansubs out there if you look. I'm personally going to wait until they bring it over. I mean, it only took two years last time.

Cowboy Bebop. I honestly like this show, but for some reason ita taken me over a year to watch the first six episodes. I'm sure I can get through the rest over Christmas. Its just not one of those moreish shows where you need to watch several episodes in a row.

Bleach- Just started. Little generic premise but the characters make up for it, plus its not a series I could finish anytime soon regardless of whether I watched it in big chunks or not, there's 11 series.

Cowboy Bebop is fucking amazing. I got to remember to get into contact with Bandai again to get my disc 3 in that set, the one I bought had two disc 4's in it) I just hope they will accept it as I've had the set for over a year and a half now. Anyway, the show is awesome because it's one of the few I've seen where you can go at whatever pace you like and not lose anything for it.

Bleach. Great Show? No. Bad Show? No. The characters are actually quite intriguing (Orihime...yay) and some of the comedy aspect of it is pretty good, but after awhile the show starts to lose its luster, then again on the whole I'm sort of down on the never-ending shonen action drama for the time being.

So I am now up through Volume 19 of NANA. Have I mentioned how awesome this series is? I can't believe that they have built an entire character from name to character traits to the path her story follows from one song.

Also had a chance to see the the English dub. It's good, very very good. My only problems with it are as follows.

1) Sam Vincent plays Ren with the exact same voice he used for Athrun in Gundam SEED and it throws me off too much. The characters are just WAY too far apart to hav that kind of overlap in my book.

2) The English version doesn't dub-title at all. In other words, when any Japanese text is shown on screen there is no subtitle track to translate it, that is a big problem considering how much that sort of stuff is integral to the plot.

3) They opted to dump the first end theme and replace it with the second end theme. Since the end theme tends to fit the mood of the ends of most episodes it makes for awkward transitions at the end of most episodes. It angers me more because hey have used the theme as an insert at points.

Getting annoyed by the current weak storyline in bleach. The search for Rukia was great, but this whole vampire deal is just a big step back for the show. Its like all the progress that the characters made was just wiped out, plus some of the animation has been pretty shoddy by this shows standards. Starting season 4 now, hopefully we can get back to the real stuff soon and ditch this nonsense.

Yeah, Miyazaki's really good at the food porn. Witness me making rice balls the other night b/c I was thinking about Spirited Away.

Oh god, the food in Spirited Away is ridiculous, its like roast boar in Asterix times a thousand. How can something look so good when you don't even know what it is?

I'm really fond of Ponyo, but it is the world's sunniest happiest massive humanitarian and ecological disaster.

And the breakfasts in Howl's Moving Castle. ...And now I'm going to go have an early lunch of leftover beef roast that my parents bought up.

You think they'd show the aftermath of something like that to an audience of five-year-olds? :P

I'm absolutely sure that they tacked on the whole ecological disaster plotline just to have something giving a vague sense of urgency where there is none otherwise.

The food porn of Miyazaki caused me to get around to opening the cookbook my mum gave me when I moved out about 6-7 years ago. Made a chicken, sweetcorn and spring onion noodle soup, and it was great. Followed it up with lemon & sugar covered pancakes. Thank you Miyazaki!

Both of those sound really good, especially the pancakes.

The sequence where the parents are eating at the beginning of Spirited Away always makes me hungry whenever I see it. I would love to eat someplace like that. You know, with the exception of the getting turned into a pig part.

Just read through NANA Volume 20.....HOLY FUCKING SHIT! And now I need to wait SIX FUCKING MONTHS for volume 21 to come out. Oh, by the way, Volume 21 is the most recent volume to come out in Japan. It came out last March and Ai Yazawa has been taking time off since then due to health problems....I want to see this story finish.

Blood+. Started watching based on it being a Production IG show, and the fact that they do great animation work on stuff like Ghost in the Shell and Le Chevalier D'Eon. I'm six episodes in and I'm not exactly enthralled. The story is fine I guess and the animating is fantastic as usual, its just that this show has practically nothing interesting to animate. Asking these guys to animate a schoolgirl with sword and a giant bat-monster in over two hours of viewing seems like a waste of animation this good looking. Its like asking Martin Scorcese to film a mug on a table, he's going to do a great job but its not exactly going to hold your attention.

Ghost in the Shell:SAC was the absolute peak of animation for anime tv shows because there was a huge amount of stuff worth animating, tanks, guns, action, cool looking characters, everything. This is really drab by comparison.

Check out the original short anime film version, Blood: The Last Vampire (not the live-action adaptation). It's short, but really good.
