KnightWing
Loved it! Goofy grin-inducing fun from end to end.
JasonC
I hereby proclaim that Ben Miller's Sheriff of Nottingham is the equal of Alan Rickman's. Whose portrayal is - of course - the gold standard by which all Sheriffs must be judged.
Stavros
That was very very very silly. And I'm cool with that.
dc20willsave
It is probably one of the best fun episodes of the new series. It was good, goofy fun.
Pan-dub
I think it was very refreshing to have an episode that was (for the most part) just fun and larks with a period of history. Not much in the way of a big story arc, not much in the way of character progression, just fun. Thanks, Gatiss!
Venneh
That was just fucking fun and adorable. Also, dumb theory o'clock: Promised Land = Utopia; Missy = Master
Donomark
Was worried that I'd be the only one who really liked this breezy, goofy episode and happy to see that I'm wrong!
Mad Man with a Box
Robots is my favorite episode of series thus far. It was just so much fun and I'm really liking the Clara-Doctor dynamic they've got going, last episode I thought the Doctor was too mean. I mean not like he was degrading Clara or anything but was almost being mean just to be mean. Here they've got that friend dynamic which reminds me a bit of Ten and Donna. Clara rocked too in this one too. The supporting cast was excellent and I don't know about everyone else but I loved the robots. The revisiting of themes or ideas from previous Doctor episodes has to be on purpose. Maybe this Misty is responsible. Also we now have three times where the Doctor is working on equations which I really like. How do people think this ties into the meta arc for the season? Donomark
To be honest though I did find the inclusion of the Promised Land subplot to have made the overarching storyline a bit incessant and relentless. I thought of how Dan and Mike discussed Bad Wolf or Torchwood in BOTI and how those plot threads were constantly referenced with little subtlety, and I'm seeing similar things in this season thus far. The only thing I'll say in it's favour is at least this running thread, is actually integrated into the plots, and the Doctor is aware of it from early on. Previous threads like Bad Wolf and Torchwood were so unsubtlely included, that it often felt shoehorned in, and yet the Doctor was unaware of it. I agree but there's been some good more subtle stuff too. Mainly that Doctor doing equations, that's three episodes he's been at it so it has to tie in somehow I think. Dan
Did he flip him off? He sure did. That's not the same in the UK as it is here, but yeah.

Dan
Shush. I'm pontificating about things I have no education in.
Stavros
I wouldn't say no education. You have watched a lot of Doctor Who, that's practically a degree in English National studies from a low end university. You can achieve a similar effect by wearing a cardigan or spending an afternoon with Stephen Fry.
Dan
As if spending an afternoon with Stephen Fry wasn't reward enough in itself?
Mad Man with a Box
A thought on a certain repeating theme Could the Promised Land be Galifrey? Especially if our mystery lady is a Time Lord.

Dan
Also did everyone spot the past Doctor cameo? Where was that? In the scene where the Doctor was showing Robin images of his story, one of the images was of Pat Troughton (who was the first actor to play Robin Hood on British TV).
