The Doctor Who thread

Recommended Posts

So this is America being butthurt about the previous five years of Doctor Who transimissions, eh? Fine, I'll keep my ability to watch Doctor Who as it airs and view Torchwood: Children of Earth on DVD, which is probably going to be Torchwood's peak.

Not to wish ill on the upcoming series, but I wonder how different it's going to be as a US co-production.

Doctor Who star Karen Gillan was found naked in a New York hotel corridor after a night of riotous partying.

Miss Gillan, 23, who plays the Time Lord's assistant Amy Pond, was seen 'whimpering' in the nude by guests at 7am before security arrived, wrapped her in a sheet and escorted her to her room.

She and co-stars including Matt Smith, who plays the Doctor, had been put up at The Ace, one of Manhattan's trendiest hotels, during a promotional trip.

After fulfilling their duties, the cast and crew enjoyed 'one long party', according to fellow guests. One permanent male guest told the Daily Mail he heard someone trying to open his door at 7am.

The resident, who later identified the stranger as Miss Gillan, said: 'I went to the peephole and looked out. I saw a man at the lift who was looking back at someone who was attempting to open my door... the next thing I saw was a woman giving this person at my door two towels before getting into the lift and leaving.

'Then I saw this young woman, completely naked, trying to wrap two towels around her and not having much luck. She then started to whimper and knock on my door. Seeing that she wasn't getting anywhere, she lay down with the towels covering her.'

Sounds like someone has a cocaine problem. At the very least an alcohol one.

Didn't Wenger and Willis move on to new jobs already?

Big Finish is delighted to announce that its licence with AudioGO to make Doctor Who on audio has been extended for another two years, up to December 2014.

“Doctor Who and the associated spin-off series have always been the cornerstone of the Big Finish audio ranges,” says executive producer Jason Haigh-Ellery. “We all greatly enjoy working on Doctor Who and it is great to see that AudioGO have shown such confidence in our contribution to the franchise by giving us this two year extension on our license”.

"We've had a fantastic working relationship with AudioGO," adds executive producer Nick Briggs. "So we're very much looking forward to continuing that."

“The great news means that we can plan for the next three and a half years,” adds line producer David Richardson, “and there’s so much to look forward to.

“In addition to the Doctor Who Main Range and Companion Chronicles, there will be a fourth season of The Lost Stories, fourth and fifth seasons of Jago and Litefoot… and we’ll be launching a brand new Doctor Who spin-off series too.

“Plus there’s The Fourth Doctor Adventures starring Tom Baker, Louise Jameson, Mary Tamm and John Leeson. It’s never felt more exciting!”

From Comic Con Paris:

At first, [steven Moffat] merely said:''Contrary to what you may have heard, there will be the same number of episodes next year.'' At the end of the conference, Steven Moffat returned to the subject himself to add:''There will be the same number of episodes. But it's true that there will be a change in the mode of distribution. I will explain it all. Later.''

Steven Moffat has also confirmed that the BBC has already been approached about the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the series in 2013. Their intention was to make it the best year for a fan of Doctor Who. Their plans are very ambitious.

Asked by a member of the public about the fact that Rory continues to die, Steven Moffat said Rory was really dead once. Describing himself as a romantic, he suggested that we should not worry too much for the future of the character. However, he added:''The repeated deaths will lead to something. There will be a pay-off.''

Also, a video interview.
