JackFetch
I'm going with Shadow King because he was one of the earliest villains Xavier faced, and Sinister always stayed in the shadows never coming out as the big bad guy. Plus Sinister would look pretty goofy on screen.
S-T
Plus Sinister would look pretty goofy on screen. Unless it was Ultimate Sinister.
KnightWing
They don't need to actually have him in his full-on purple suit and vampire makeup. Sinister can work.
MaxPower
I'd love to see Sinister in a movie, the ultimates would work better on screen but more people would recognise the original version.

Dread
Wow...I'm now actually excited about this now. Sinister makes sense, especially if it focuses on the Summers brothers. Apocalypse maybe?

JackFetch
Why is Mystique is this? Heat Vision reports that Jennifer Lawrence (Winter's Bone) will play Mystique in 20th Century Fox's X-Men: First Class, and Variety has confirmed that Kevin Bacon has signed to play the villain, though which character is still under wraps. The two join James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Alice Eve, Nicholas Hoult and Caleb Landry Jones in the Matthew Vaughn-directed film, hitting theaters on June 3, 2011. Variety lists Aaron Johnson as part of the cast as well, but he has yet to be confirmed. X-Men: First Class, following the classic Marvel mythology, charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga. Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-Men. Mystique was played by Rebecca Romijn in the first three "X-Men" films. http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/104025-jennifer-lawrence-is-mystique-in-x-men-first-class
Missy
In the comics Mystique is very old. So maybe they're going with that.

JackFetch
Edi Gathegi, who played the vampire Laurent in Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon, is joining X-Men: First Class in the role of Darwin, reports Deadline New York. Darwin has the power of "reactive evolution," which allows him to adapt to any situation or environment. He's joining a cast that includes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Alice Eve, Kevin Bacon, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Caleb Landry Jones and Lucas Till. Matthew Vaughn will direct the 20th Century Fox film targeted for a June 3, 2011 release. http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/104825-edi-gathegi-playing-darwin-in-x-men-first-class They are really fucking up the mythology with this movie. Guest
Ha. Wow. I don't really care about the mythology since clearly they're creating their own, but what a stupid character to add to the thing.

ShaunKL
Is this taking place in the original X-Men movie universe or the new Avengers universe?
Stavros
Is this taking place in the original X-Men movie universe or the new Avengers universe? Definitely not the Avengers, that's strictly under the Marvel banner and X-men is still a Fox property. I'd imagine its supposed to be a part of the existing universe, although to me X-men Origins: Wolverine sort of ruined that whole deal. But I guess if they're going to do Deadpool then they aren't going to do another ongoing continuity at the same time.
JackFetch
The Fox X-Men universe is separate from the Marvel universe that was started with Iron Man. I honestly don't know if X-Men: First Class is in the same universe as the other X-Men movies even. I imagine it does, but the more I hear about the movie, it doesn't seem to. At the very least it's going to have to make some big stretches to lead into the future world they already have.
Koete
Onstage today at Movie-Con, Jason Flemyng (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Stardust) revealed he will play Azazel, biological father of Nightcrawler, in the next X-Men film. According to him, it’s going to involve heavy make-up and a CG tail. Source

JackFetch
With shooting on Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class gearing up to start in London at the end of the month, the cast is coming together very quickly. One key role that's closer to being cast now is Dr. Moira MacTaggert with word coming from The Hollywood Reporterthat "Damages" co-star Rose Byrne is in talks for the part. MacTaggert is a scientist specializing in genetic mutation who was introduced in the early days of Claremont and Cockrum's days on "Uncanny X-Men," #96 in fact. She showed up to be Professor X's housekeeper, but it wasn't long before her true significance to Professor X, the X-Men and mutantkind would be unveiled. A year after the character was introduced, it was revealed in flashbacks that MacTaggert was actually Professor Xavier's ex-girlfriend and apparently, she will be playing that role in Vaughn's prequel which will be going back to the early days of the X-Men. This means that so far, the confirmed cast is: James McAvoy as Charles Xavier a.k.a Professor X Rose Byrne as Dr. Moira MacTaggert Mike Fassbender as Erik Lehnsherr a.k.a Magneto Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy a.k.a. Beast Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique Caleb Landry Jones as Sean Cassidy a.k.a. Banshee Lucas Till as Alex Summers a.k.a Havoc Edi Gathegi as Darwin Alice Eve as Emma Frost a.k.a. The White Queen Kevin Bacon as an unspecified villain (umored to be Sebastian Shaw but also possibly Mr. Sinister?) Jason Flemyng as Azazel That seems to only leave a few roles left, including Scott Summers/Cyclops, which would be expected with his brother Alec appearing in the movie, and Nightcrawler, which would make sense with Azazel appearing in the movie. The earlier rumors about Rosamund Pike seemed to have been false or else she may have been up for one of the female roles above. http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/105775-rose-byrne-in-talks-for-x-mens-dr-moira-mactaggert
JackFetch
Oliver Platt is the latest to join the cast of X-Men: First Class, reports Deadline. Platt's role is listed as "the Man in Black" and seems to be an original character created specficially for the film. News of his casting comes on the heels of this morning's report that Rose Byrne will appear in the film as Moira MacTaggert, joining an ever-expanding cast that includes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, Alice Eve, Kevin Bacon, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Caleb Landry Jones, Lucas Till, Edi Gathegi and Jason Flemyng. The most conspicuous absence in the cast so far is an actor for the role of Scott Summers (aka Cyclops). http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/105815-x-men-first-class-adds-oliver-platt
JackFetch
XMF reports that American child actress Morgan Lily (2012) has joined the rapidly-growing cast of Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class as young Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence plays the older version in the film). Other cast members of the June 3, 2011 release include James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, Alice Eve, Kevin Bacon, Nicholas Hoult, Caleb Landry Jones, Lucas Till, Edi Gathegi, Jason Flemyng and Oliver Platt. X-Men: First Class, following the classic Marvel mythology, charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga. JackFetch
January Jones is now confirmed to have stepped into the X-Men: First Class role of Emma Frost, reports Variety. Contenders for the part have recently been rumored to include Rosamund Pike and Alice Eve, but Jones appears to have emerged as the top choice for the role. The trade adds that Zoe Kravitz has also been cast as Angel while Bill Bilner will play Magneto as a young boy. They join James McAvoy, Rose Byrne, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Caleb Landry Jones, Lucas Till, Edi Gathegi, Kevin Bacon, Jason Flemyng and Oliver Platt in the Marvel Comics adaptation, set to hit theaters on June 3, 2011. http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/105877-january-jones-joins-x-men-first-class They are really throwing this thing together quickly. I'm not sure about a female Angel though. That's just weird.
KnightWing
I'm not sure about a female Angel though. That's just weird. No, that actually makes sense. That way they can get around the problem of Warren Worthington appearing in X3, while also adding another female to the roster. It plays all screwy with the comics, but it does kinda make sense.
