What are you watching and enjoying?

Casino: It's a classic. I've seen it so many times, and it never gets old, and I'm always noticing new things. It made be just under three hours long, but it goes by so fast, you are really shown in detail how this world works, so that when things inevitably go to shit, I was actually invested in what was going on. My favourite Scorsese film.

I loved the narration, and it does almost seem like Nicky and Ace are going against each other fighting to get the viewer on their side for the story of the film at points:

I only noticed watching this time, that when Nicky is giving his narration in the cornfield that he gets cut off mid sentence by one of his friends bashing him in the back of the skull with a baseball bat. Giving me the belief that the narration was happening as the situations developed, rather than being discussed in hindsight. Which added a new layer to the film for me.

Awesome film, great use of music, just all round fun.

Daredevil. I don't care what anyone else says. I like this movie. It also helps that I'm not a fan of the comic.

Theatrical or Director's Cut? If it's the former, I recommend the latter for comparison.

Watched last night's first episode of The Looney Tunes Show. OH GOD THAT WAS AWFUL! Seriously, give me some fucking episode of Baby Looney Tunes over ever watching that shit again. You have something as good as the Looney Tunes and you instead go make it into a shitty domestic comedy. I need to wash that out of my mouth. I know.

AH... much better.

The Fox and The Hound: It's not a terrible film. I appreciate what it was, which was basically the old guard at the studio giving way to a new one. That said, the stuff with the two birds and the caterpillar is kinda useless, not even good as comedy relief. That and the friendship needed more development and the love plot between Vixey and Todd was more than a little unnecessary. I still appreciated it quite a bit and still enjoyed myself. It's just not quite perfect and I can see why Disney was getting outgrossed by the Don Bluth films in the 80s.

So I'm marathoning the new Doctor Who, and I'm almost at the episode "Daleks in Manhattan." I'm getting ready to be disappointed, because there's no way the episode can be anywhere near as good as my expectations:

The Daleks go to New York... as tourists.

Daleks try to take a taxi. They can't fit in the door, and keep bumping into the side of the car.

Daleks go to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, but get too emotionally involved and EXTERMINATE the actor playing Gaston.

Daleks try to go through a revolving door, but get stuck inside and keep spinning around inside it.

Daleks go to the New York Library, but get kicked out by a very cross elderly librarian woman because they can't keep quiet. ("THIS IS MY INSIDE VOICE!!")

Daleks go to Ground Zero, and somehow feel sad once they get there. Their eye-stalks sag down with sadness, then they defiantly yell in unison, "OSAMA BIN LADEN MUST BE EXTEEEEEEEERMINATED!!"

Seconded! I didn't like the Theatrical but I think the Director's Cut is actually a solid film. But then again Daredevil is like my favorite super hero ever.

Directors Cut is better, but I still think the original is acceptable. They're about four and three stars respectively. There really is a lot to like about DD, and I hope that at some point in the future post-Avengers we'll get to see a Daredevil movie again.

Watched 'Paul' this afternoon, was better than I was expecting, but not as good as their other work. No offence to anyone on this site, it seemed like they went down the Love Actually path and Americanised their style a bit. Still lots of great jokes, but not as many as the small/quick jokes that was in Hot Fuzz.

Rogan was better than I was expecting though and I can't believe how much of a crush I have on Kristen Wigg, good lord she is amazing. Probably 3 stars, flirting with 3.5

I just started watching Heroes on Netflix, now I’m midway through the first season, and I’m actually enjoying it. I watched the pilot episode when it first aired but it just didn’t grab me, but watching it now I’m into it, I don’t love it quite as much as say Lost, and it defiantly suffers from a few bad elements but over all I think it’s a really good show.

Anyone else have any thoughts about Heroes?

So Jaws is as awesome as I remember. Time to watch the decline of the series. Only seen the Revenge out of the sequels.

Time for Jaws 2: We're gonna need a bigger shark

Jaws 2 is still a decent movie. The sharp decline in quality really shows up in the next 2 films.

Yeah, I am really into it but I'm only midway though season 1, so my opinion isn't based on the entire series. To bad it goes downhill though, based on the first season it could have been really good...

And yes there was a 4th season, it ended with a cliffhanger and the show wasn't picked up for a new season. I fucking hate it when that happens!

I think it's better if you approach it from the prospective of Volumes.

Vol. 1: Sweetness.

Vol. 2: Meh.

Vol. 3: Burn it!

Vol. 4: Much improved, starting to look good!

Vol. 5: I couldn't even finish this.

This is a show that was fucked over royally by the writer's strike. Volume 3 was supposed to be the second half of Season 2 and it sounded good with a lot of the plot holes being caught right away. Instead, we got some crappy and major timey wimey bullshit.

GO: I rememeber liking this a lot when I was a teenager, I liked how the stories were all separate yet somehow came together to form one fucked up night.

After watching this I'd have to just say it was good, but nothing special. Nothing in the acting stands out, and the guy on drugs having weird fantasies was funny when the film was being made, are now just plain odd.

It also comes to a pointless conclusion and leave you wondering where two hours of your life went.

The Great Mouse Detective: Definitely an improvement after The Black Cauldron. Just a well put together film. Animation is smooth and the music works well with the characters and the plot.

Weird Science: I enjoyed the film though it's definitely not my favorite John Hughes film by far. I was left confused by what exactly Lisa is but ehh, still, a fun movie.

Reminded me about that other classic animated mouse movie, An American Tail.

Warren T. Rat: Disregard the nose. What's in a nose? A nose by any other name would smell as sweet...

Crowd: Great whiskers! He's a cat!

Warren T. Rat: Hey, hey, hey! Wait a minute. Who are you gonna believe? Me or your own eyes?

I can't recall how many times I've used that 'who ya gonna believe' line.

I've almost seen it a hundred times. I remember almost renting it at the video store many times years ago and deciding not to.

The Mask What Ian said in his review. Awesome fun. Never noticed until watching this time that during the balloon scene the Mask pulls out a condom by mistake when making the gangsters balloon animals. Also, the mechanic garage looked a lot like the Ghostbusters HQ to me.
