JackFetch
Columbia Pictures has set "The Office" co-executive producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky to write a script for a "Ghostbusters" film designed to bring back together the original cast of Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson. Eisenberg and Stupnitsky just wrote The Year One, a comedy that was directed by Ramis. Ramis with Aykroyd wrote the first two installments of the films. Ivan Reitman directed both the 1984 original and the sequel that was released in 1989. Ghostbusters was Columbia's highest grossing film ever, until it was beaten by Men in Black and then Spider-Man. An attempt to make a third installment of the franchise was stymied in the dealmaking stage. No deals will be made with the original cast until the script is ready. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=48564 Why can't Ramis and Aykroyd write it? This thing seems to get started and stopped every 6 months. The game is almost finished and they can't even release that. Is this IP cursed? NightAngle04
Didn't Ramis and Aykroyd actually write the new game? I'm not too sure about this.
annericelover
Didn't Ramis and Aykroyd actually write the new game? I'm not too sure about this. Yes, the game is actually the scripted Part 3 that was never made.
dc20willsave
Talk about bringing a topic back from the dead... Shooting is set to begin in Cleveland early next year.
Koete
Paul Feig is directing an all-female Ghostbusters movie, co-writing with Katie Dippold.
Dread
and it's a reboot.
dc20willsave
I am pretty okay with this. Bridesmaids was actually funny and The Heat is one of those movies that I put into the category of being better than they have any right to be. Melissa McCarthy is almost guaranteed to be in it. dc20willsave
Aubrey Plaza would be great in this I believe. She can do the deadpan snark while still reacting to the wtf-ness of ghosts. Maybe toss in Leslie Mann or Anna Faris.
MaxPower
Not sure how I feel about the reboot thing.... As corny as it is, I'd prefer the daughter(s) type of sequel.
Molly
Or franchises (which was Akroyd's original plan, anyway). I mean, set it 20 years later where Ghostbusters actually have franchises around the country. That way you can skip all the origin crap, and perhaps have a cameo from Akroyd or Murray.
