Concerning the whole whip-sword weapon thing.

Soul Calibur (the first game Ivy appeared in) was released for the Dreamcast in 99, but it was released in arcades the summer of 98. Meaning that the idea came some time around 97.

It shows up in the Batman Beyond episode that aired in 99, meaning that the idea came at some point in 98.

There was also one in the French movie "Brotherhood of the Wolf" which came out in early 2001, meaning that their idea came at some point in 99-00.

And I thought up the thing when I was 13 years old, which was in 96.

I think in conclusion, it all comes down to the infinite monkey theorem. The idea that eventually, every idea will be thought up by someone. Sort of like when the both Europeans and China invented dragons, despite being separated from each other.

This useless information presented by the Dubs Needs a Life Fund.

Derek Powers - James commented that he was similar to Luthor, which I thought was nice continuity with the WFP episode about "World's Finest" and the comments that they made then.

Actually, that was Mike.

I, however, take full credit for the Dr. Milo/Sgt. Mills/Livewire comparison to Willie.

And Dubs, you really are trying to best me for title of "Person Most Needing a Life", aren't you?

So he's physically weak. At least his town is nowhere near as scummy as Gotham City.

Is that due to his administration, though, or are the PPG just that much better than Batman?

(duck and cover, duck and cover, duck and cover)

Had to say that...

Seriously, the superheros kind of pick themselves, but if you look at the people the mayors surround themselves with, it's still a hard call. Ms. Bellum vs. Jim Gordon - at least they both have good people in the administration.

I can't believe you're doing a poll of the worst mayor, and left out Mayor McCheese. Talk about a revolving door for criminals - WHEN will the Hamburgler do hard time? WHEN?!?

if audacity would fucking work with these new speakers I'd make you the audio file mike lol

You can use the narrate time line option on movie maker.

On another subject, I can't believe all the people voting for Hill as the more incompetent mayor. I know he's a godawful mayor, but for fuck's sake, the Mayor has to call the Powerpuff Girls every time he needs a PICKLE JAR opened!!

Have you tried to open a pickle jar recently!? Besides the mayor has more important things to worry about.

Fixing taxes.

Reorganising the transportation of the city to a more cost productive manner.

Getting his hot secretary into bed with him and his wife and then being able to film it and start his own porn company.

I mean when you look at it that way, the man has a lot to worry about.

Thats not incompetance, thats keeping a leash on your heroes. The Mayor is the F'N BOSS of his vigilantes, Hamilton Hill couldn't control a pasta sauce spill in a supermarket.

BB depresses me because seeing Bruce old and helpless is depressing.

imagine if they brought Catwoman/Selina back and had her in a love triangle with old bruce and young Terry

All kinds of no...

Yes it's a good idea. I thought of it, after all. ;) But the answer is still no.

Please no. The BTAS theme is the only thing holding my sanity together.

It also kicks major ass.

So I'm a little behind but this is the first time I'm actually following the show by watching the episodes. BB is the first DCAU series that's worth a shit to me <dodging tomatoes> so here goes:

"Rebirth"

Great two-parter to start with. It was ballsy to do so little Batman in the first two episodes but it paid off as one of the better episodes of season 1. Totally cemented Old Bruce as the DCAU's best character.

My only real complaint is the same as you guys: Terry gets real good real fast at using the costume. I do kind of appreciate that they didn't get all cliched about how badly he used the costume but still a little more green-ness to the whole thing would have been called for.

I like Powers, more likely how he develops as a villain over the season.

I'll send an email or a voicemail to the show regarding what Cade said, Mike.

"Black Out"

Inque is another cool villain. a sleeker and sexier Clayface type where they really finally got the animation about as perfect as it can be for a shapeshifter. Yes the vomiting was gross, but awesome and it was ubercool to see Bruce in the Grey Ghost hat with the Freeze gun.

And I love mature Barbara. Not in a suavestar way...

"Golem"

My file was corrupt, er ah...the DVD was scratched...yeah. That's the ticket!

"The Winning Edge"

While I thought the animation was really cool and seeing Bane suffering the long-term effects of Venom was ultracool, I couldn't help but wonder why Jessie Spano wasn't crying and singing "I'm So Excited" at the end of this one.

"Dead Man's Hand"

The first real nod to the oldschool villains beyond the freeze ray and the Joker Gang. I loved this one even though the story was pretty cliched. The animation was great.

Hey guys! I know I haven't posted in forever, but don't think I've forgotten about WFP. Senior year in high school and other interests and all that. But yeah, finally got around to picking up where I left off and having tons of fun. I still think it's getting better as it goes along, even though I love 'Golem'. But yeah, just dropping by and I'll probably be posting a lot more often again.

Just getting around to listening to this episode, and caught Mike's comment about Bruce's "Sure you are" to one of the Jokerz saying that they were the "Jokerz."

Well, have any of you ever read Kingdom Come? At the end of the story, Supes, Bats and Wonder Woman, in their secret IDs, are having lunch in a "heroes themed" restaurant.

The waitress comes up in full classic Dick Grayson comics Robin costume and reads off script that she is "Robin," to which Bruce (probably around the age Bruce is supposed to be Batman Beyond) says "Of course you are."

Eh, just thought I throw that in since I was just reminded of it listening to the line in the podcast.

I'm 90% sure that they straight up lifted Old Bruce on Batman Beyond from Kingdom Come, and I'm 100% okay with that.

Ehh...

They lifted a few elements from Kingdom Come, such as the Robo-Batman suit in KK that appeared as the Exo-Suit in BB. But Bruce's character in KK is far "warmer" than in BB (he often smiles). BB has plenty of inspirations from KK and The Dark Knight Returns, but Bruce is actually pretty different.
