Delete
As bad as that Stallone movie was at least his helmet fit.
Stavros
It looked like it fit but in reality that Stallone helmet offered no protection due to the lack or interior padding. This helmet looks right for a guy whose trademark transport is a motorbike. It also makes up for being bulkier by being closer visually to the original. slothian
Right, the helmet was least realistic thing in Stallone's Judge Dredd movie.... I can't base an opinion off of one image, but I liked Urban a lot in Red so I have faith.
prez
Urban's just a solid actor. Although, I'll always think of him as the warrior leader in that shitastic "Pitch Black" sequel.
JackFetch
It was first reported by JudgeDreddMovieNews.com, and later confirmed by The Playlist, that Lena Headey has been cast as the main villain and gang leader, Madeline Madrigal (AKA "Ma-Ma") in Dredd. Headey ("Game of Thrones," "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," 300) joins Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby in the Pete Travis-directed movie, written by Alex Garland and currently filming in South Africa. Dredd takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot - if necessary. http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/113650-lena-headey-confirmed-for-dredd
SuaveStar
It’s a wrap: Shooting completed for Judge Dredd International and local film-makers have wrapped up production on the first ever 3-D film shot on location in Africa. The shooting of the R245 million Judge Dredd was completed at Cape Town Film Studios in Faure this weekend. The studio’s Chief Executive Officer Nico Dekker said they managed to pull it off, despite the fact they were still finishing the studio construction. "It was quite a challenge and the film itself was very demanding and is still demanding in the sense that it is the first 3-D action film to be shot in the African continent,” he said. Missy
It seems there were creative differences throughout filming, and director Pete Travis was asked to step down. So he has no hand in the editing.
NightAngle04
I assume what happened was that Pete Travis wanted to give the film a third act, Garland was like "not on one of my films, you don't" and then kept on showing Travis the last 20 minutes of 'Sunshine' until the director could take no more and left. One of the comments left at the end of the article.

Molly
My knowledge of Judge Dredd is woefully lacking, but this really looks like it's coming together.
JasonC
As long as Dredd doesn't take his helmet off, I will be happy.
Kenny Evil
Karl Urban was pretty insistent that he wouldn't dare. I've got mixed feeling about this. I want to be excited but I also remember the Stallone movie. (PS, I hold no ill will towards Stallone on that one. All the problems with that movie had little to do with him.) dc20willsave
Dredd will only take off his helmet for the big song and dance number at the end of the movie.
Stavros
Dredd will only take off his helmet for the big song and dance number at the end of the movie. Guest Director Takeshi Kitano. Some stuff from the screening at Cannes- http://www.comicbook...s/news/?a=59933 The exec describing it as "Dirty Harry meets District 9" is pretty hilarious, but I'm hopeful that the buzz is warranted. What I've seen looks a little grander than your usual B-level comic book adaptation (B referring to non Marvel or DC big heroes and budget, not my opinion of Dredd)

prez
Am I the only one who thinks that helmet on Urban looks way too big? Like, there's no way his head is that long, ya know? It looks awkward.
