Missy
BETTY OR VERONICA? ASK ARCH May 20, 2009 The world's oldest teen is becoming an honest man. After six decades of indecisiveness, Archie Andrews is going to settle down with his longtime love -- but will it be Betty or Veronica? The perpetual teenager will pop the question to either best friend Betty Cooper or to the beguiling Veronica Lodge in Archie Comics No. 600, which is due in comic-book stores in August. "What would lead Archie to have marriage on his mind? And who would he choose, Veronica or Betty? How will Betty react? How will Veronica react? Can Archie shake off his klutzy past and hold down a steady job . . . for more than a month? One thing is certain: This will be the biggest Archie Comics story ever!" a solicitation for the comic says. "You will see him make the decision," said Archie Comics' editor-in-chief Victor Gorelick of the sixissue storyline, which features a glimpse of Archie and the Riverdale gang five years down the line. Archie, Gorelick said, is able to sneak a peek into the future he's never been able to reach in the comics in the landmark 600th issue, when he takes a right turn down Memory Lane. "He goes a bit into the future when he becomes engaged and married," Gorelick said -- but he wouldn't say to whom. "We're not saying anything," he said. "The office is in lockdown." dc20willsave
They'll just cop out with Archie having become a member of a polygamist sect and he's marrying both of them. Or Reggie. I could see Archie marrying Reggie.
Dread
They should let the readers decide! I'd personally like to see him marry Jason Todd.
dc20willsave
They should let the readers decide! I'd personally like to see him marry Jason Todd. Then, years later, Pureheart Prime punches the walls of creation, nullifying Jason Todd and Archie's marriage. Or Archie makes a deal with the devil to save Miss Grundy's life in exchange for their marriage. Whichever.
dc20willsave
He proposes to Veronica. However, more likely than not, he takes Betty as a mistress or so the cover will lead me to believe.
Missy
Jughead looks so sad! It would seem those "Jughead is gay" jokes are true!
Aaron Robinson
Jughead has only one love; hamburgers. And he'll continue loving hamburgers until the end of time.

dc20willsave
Exactly: a piece of meat between two buns. The sad thing is that I'm pretty sure you're not the only one who thought that.
dc20willsave
Archie marries Veronica in #601. The cover artist has made some interesting choices. For starters, Betty is still there, crying, and she's looking at... Veronica? So, Betty is, as it turns out, sad over Veronica getting married to Archie? Betty has been chasing Archie as a passive agressive way of trying to get Veronica? Really? And Reggie, by the looks of things, is getting ready to get his gun out to shoot Archie or Veronica. He's looking at Veronica so I'm pretty positive that's who he's planning to kill. Is he doing it to prove his love to Archie? Meanwhile, Midge, Ethel, and Nancy are all happy to finally be on a cover. Dilton's wondering what's going on because he's behind Big Moose, and Jughead is either sleeping or thinking about the reception catered by Pop Tate. Whichever. SkylerQ91
It's been years since I've picked up an Archie book (Not counting Free Comic Book Day) but some how I don't think the marriage will stick. I'm guessing dream sequence. -Skyler
Missy
It's a story set in the future, so it won't mean anything in the long run.
SkylerQ91
True enough but is there any reason to jump to the future? I still stand by the dream thing but yes, Mike either way It really does not matter and I'm likely looking into this WAY too much. -Skyler
Koete
True enough but is there any reason to jump to the future? Money? High school for so many years has become stale and boring? They're out of ideas? Someone dared them?
dc20willsave
I figure this is going to be the equivalent of one of the silver-age "Imaginary Stories" that DC used to do (because Superman is real, don't you know?). It makes sense with Archie since the entire line has been stuck in faux-fifties Riverdale for like 50 years.
Koete
Archie #600 sold 54,170 copies to comic shops.
Missy
Wow! And that doesn't count people who get it at grocery stores. Also, I looked at the July numbers, and it wasn't even on the list, so that's a huge spike.

dc20willsave
Seeds are being planted for a "Crisis of Infinite Archies." Holy crap that's depressing. I mean, seriously, Miss Grundy has cancer and everyone is being crushed by life. The author isn't joking when he said it's Funny Winkerbeen-esque. YazzyDream
Seeds are being planted for a "Crisis of Infinite Archies." That. is. hilarious. Wow, if they put that together in a trade paperback, I'd buy it. I used to be a huge fan when I was kid. They were my first comics.
