Delete
Finished B&R 16 The Batman/Batman/Robin/Joker team up needs to be an episode of Brave and the Bold. Minus Joker killing all the bad guys I guess.

Stavros
Looks ok to me. One thing I've liked about Batman & Robin is the introducing of non-mainstream art to a very mainstream book.
Delete
One other thing I loved The reason the Joker decides to become a good guy is that Damian is too much like him to be an interesting opponent was hilarious
prez
The art in that is fucking HORRIBLE. Like someone shit all over the page. I can understand not being a fan of Irving's style, but comparing it to shit? I don't really know how else to put it. That's awful. The entire Batman "family" looks like chubby Maxwell Lord Matryoshka dolls? The dude in panel four whose face looks like a melted Peanut M&M? Alfred's face is so thin he looks like a Pez dispenser? I'm sorry, I just can't imagine in what world that doesn't suck.
dc20willsave
I'm sorry, I just can't imagine in what world that doesn't suck. I can. I liked the art. Sure, it's not traditional but there's something about it I like. Like Koete said, Irving's are isn't for everyone but it's still interesting and doesn't bore me. Alot of the art today is so following the same trends that I like it when there's an artist who's trying to be a little outside the lines, no pun intended. There are so many worse artists out there while I think Irving's only crime is bringing something new to the mainstream.
TDK_theBatmaN
I absolutely adore Irving's art. It was a wise decision I think to put him on the Pyg and Joker stuff as his style remains very successful in conveying the darkness and, I suppose, ugliness of Batman's world, yet still looking amazing - not ugly. Although I will concede that I think Tim Drake, if that is supposed to be him, because I don't see any crutches, he does look ridiculously chubby and that guy on right in the second to last panel on the second to last page either has a terrible facial deformity or just turned out kind of strange, but that is a minor "slip" in Irving's art. The Joker/Damian dynamic is a wonderfully entertaining character battle. I don't feel so great about Bruce admitting to funding Batman, but then again I wasn't so keen originally on Dick becoming Batman. Let's be honest though, we can get some great stories with this legitimately new status quo. DC and Marvel have obviously made claims of this before, but I see this as an actual shakeup. prez
I swear to God, I'm not trying to be contrarian. I think that's some of the worst art I've ever seen in a big book. Then again, people like Quitely, too, and he can't draw people either.

Love Amanda Conner. I adore Jim Lee's more recent work, like on "Hush." Love Oeming. Calafiore, Bryan Hitch, Rags Morales, Skottie Young, Larroca, David Finch, Nicola Scott, I'm liking Sami Basri's stuff... those seem to cover me right now, I think. SuaveStar
Just finished issue 16. Did anyone else feel like Cameron Stewarts pages looked a lot like Frank Quitley? I enjoyed it, and the reveal of what RIP really meant was quite funny, if a bit of a fuck you to the whole thing: RIP according to Hurt stood for Rot In Purgatory

Venneh
If Nguyen sells those first few pages at C2E2, I will totally have to buy this. So awesome. Also, fuck yes Nguyen in general. EDIT: I approve of the avatar changes, folks.

Stavros
Was it Preston who wanted a condensed version of DC history? This is it.
Venneh
Cass Cain doesn't exist as Batgirl right now, cause she was totally following Bruce's orders, you guys, so it's all, like, totally fine. (Yeah, it sucks that she's been given the shaft, but you were expecting what?)
KnightWing
I never thought Cassandra fit the Batgirl cowl anyway. She's a great character, but I think she'd be better-suited for a different identity. I think they should give her the Nightwing treatment and upgrade her to a separate-yet-related persona. Stavros
Hell, let her be Nightwing. It's a nice upgrade for her and a way of keeping the name going beyond Dick. Plus it beats anything else they might try to impose on her.
