JasonC
I will let all you non-british types out there in on a little secret. We in the UK may watch the National Game of Cricket, but many of us have no idea what's going on, or even what the rules are supposed to be. Venneh
Oh hey, we start shooting in six weeks. We should probably get a cast. (aka, that chick from Girls is on the shortlist)
Flashfan1
David Tennant should play Reed...
Koete
You need someone with stronger serious acting skills for Reed.
JackFetch
Production is ramping up, and they are testing actors. Sources tell Variety that Kit Harington, Jack O’Connell and Miles Teller are in line to get test offers to read for the role of Richards while Saoirse Ronan, Kate Mara and Margot Robbie (sources now saying Robbie will not be testing) are being tested for Storm. Michael B. Jordan is the only actor currently being mentioned as a possibility to play Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, but that could change. http://variety.com/2013/film/news/fantastic-four-3-1200708738/ In my opinion even though Saoirse Ronan is the best actress of her generation, she's way too young to be Sue. She's not even 20 yet. Kate Mara all the way. She's great in House of Cards.
Stavros
But they could be following the idea from the Ultimate FF book where they are a more teen-orientated deal. Jordan fits that better, I prefer the idea that Johnny and Sue are close together in age. It'd be odd if the cast Mara as his ten years older adopted sibling. JackFetch
There is a huge difference between the ages of the two woman going for Sue so I don't think they know yet how old she is supposed to be. Also, it's not really believable to have a scientist a year out of high school working on something so advanced unless they are making her a prodigy, which just makes the Reed relationship creepy. Dread
In the Ultimate version, Reed is a teenager too. It makes sense with Millar at the creative helm as he did a long run on UFF.
Dan
The Reed/Sue relationship borders on creepy anyway. Early on, Reed and Ben were WWII vets, meaning in 1961 they were pushing 40, if not in their 40s. Reed's sideburns aren't grey because of whatever weirdness he has going on, they're grey because he's middle-aged. Meanwhile, Sue was about 20. Of course, that's been downplayed, but these days moviegoers are pretty used to older male actors playing against much younger actresses. Edited because Des makes an excellent point. Stavros
Yeah, I'm thinking they're going with them all being in their early 20's this time around.
dc20willsave
The script is done and they're going to start testing actors at the end of the month. In a move that I'm sure we're going to hear bigots complaining about for months to come, Michael B. Jordan is attached to play Johnny. KnightWing
I like the guy and I like the casting. I'm curious, though, are they going with the idea that he's adopted, then? Or Sue's half-brother? I doubt they'd make half the team black.
Dread
I'd like to see the all-black team. How great would Idris Elba be as Richards? But even better would be making the bigots squirm by having Sue be black and Reed be white.
Stavros
Idris Elba is awesome as anything. Plus it's about time there was a black superhero who wasn't Wesley Snipes.
slothian
Now now, let's not forget Frozone.

Dread
Hancock is a really great first 2 acts with one of the worst third acts in superhero movie history, which is saying a lot.

Stavros
I can't recall getting past the first act.
Dan
The cast has been announced. Variety's story lists most of the actors as expected to sign, but most outlets are reporting this as a done deal. None of the actors are surprising based on the word going around for the past couple of months.
Venneh
Why not go for Sue as a black actress, if they decided to make Johnny black? I mean, I get adoption, but actually going with Sue as black too would've been nice. I'm not particularly on fire for this. This just seems like they're trying to get a movie done quickly as possible to keep the license.
JackFetch
I like Kate Mara, but I don't know who the other three are. That's a good thing. I don't want star power in this.
