Thanks to Hulu, I just started watching what I thought was a brand new NBC show called Superstore. Turns out it's just begun its fourth season. How?! The pilot is garbage.

  • Jonah would have been fired for at least three things on his very first day.
  • They are trying way too hard to push the Amy / Jonah relationship without earning it.
  • Mateo is an awful stereotype.
  • Dina is such a stupid character.
  • And worst of fucking all, Amy apologizes to Jonah for not buying into his bullshit.

Garrett is the only thing worth watching here, and he has maybe 90 seconds of screen time.

Ok so I'm watching Commando, a movie I've seen a dozen times over the years. I don't know why this didn't become a franchise. I think it's the movie that started all the big action revenge movies in the 80s. What I can't figure out is why they chose the main bad guy to look like Freddie Mercury's somehow even gayer brother. I mean, he's wearing a fucking chainmail vest for some reason. Matrix is this huge buff badass and his big rival is a doughy middle aged guy with a big porn stache.

My understanding is that Vernon Wells (Bennett) was cast very late in the production and didn't have time to beef-up for the role. From a character perspective, I look at it as Matrix took care of himself despite being retired, while Bennett allowed himself to get pudgy and lazy thanks to the money he was raking in.

And I'm of two minds on it being a franchise. While more Commando would have been awesome, the movie is pure 1980s perfection. Any more and the idea would have been ruined. Also, I like to think Matrix is one of the few action heroes who actually got to retire and live a good life.

When he tells Matrix that he is getting old and slow I'm like, uh look in the mirror bud. Apparently he was called in 6 weeks into production so he never got a wardrobe fitting which explains why his costume doesn't fit but doesn't explain the outfit choice. There has been a lot of speculation about whether he was in love with Matrix, which is pretty obvious to me but the Director swears he is just a super macho hetero dude.

I was watching the opening disaster scene of Final Destination 4 the other day and I started to think "this looks like a cartoon." That's because it literally is a cartoon. There is so much CGI that many of the fatalities are computer animated. It looked like a Mortal Kombat game. Not even kidding. I genuinely enjoyed all of the FD movies (despite their many flaws) but this was jarring, especially a decade later.

I remember in "Better in the Dark" Tom and Derrick mentioned that the disaster scenes were so elaborate that they would hum Raymond Scotts "Powerhouse."

So I was watching something about what happened on the Lethal Weapon tv show. If you don't know they fired the Riggs actor and leaked audio from the set that made him look bad.  Anyways I was watching an interview where he told his side of the story and said they had blackmailed him the whole second season with this audio threatening to release it. He brought up that the same thing had happened to Christian Bale and pointed out that both projects were McG sets. Why is nobody talking about the fact that most likely McG is blackmailing his stars with audio that could ruin their careers and releasing them when they don't play ball?  He said on set you wear a mic all day so there are a lot of private conversations that would get recorded. If this is true McG is a scumbag.

Huh, interesting. And I definitely agree with that last sentence.
