As much as I love the Mega Drive, it wouldn't have been here if it wasn't for the NES and it's fantastic platforming games setting the stage for some of the Mega Drives best. Also, NES had all the Disney Capcom games, and of course Mario 1 and 3.

NES. We still have one of these at my grandma's, and will play on it every time we're there. Hell, I remember playing Little Mermaid the Game way back in the day.

(Disclosure: Have never played Mega Drive.)

Voted Genesis just because like the 360 it doesn't deserve to be crushed, and it was a far more popular console than the NES when I was a kid, at least among my friends. The games library is better for me.

Besides, if I want going to base my vote on 'You wouldn't have x without z, so z is better' I'd be voting for pong.

On games alone the NES wins this. The Genesis has Sonic and a few other memorable titles, but Nintendo crushes them with Mario, Zelda, Mega Man, Castlevania, and Metroid.
