James D.
So, of course they're releasing a new Final Destination film in August. Nevermind the fact that the last one was called THE Final Destination... And Tony Todd, who will be in it, has said that if this one does well at the box office, they will film two more movies back-to-back. This fucking series.......my god. Ok, I can't be the only person who saw that and thought it was a title for a porno. Somebody dies by electric shock from their vibrator in that version. Far too simple for this series. The vibrator's batteries leak acid onto the bed, melting through the mattress and boxsprings, causing several springs to shoot out of them, ricocheting off the walls and knocking a glass of water off the nightstand and the chandelier off the ceiling, which meet on the bed which THEN electrocute the girl to death. Sounds too similar to the sunbed death in 3. I think the glass will knock off the floor, falling into pieces, and it will cut the woman as she gets up, casing her to tip backwards out the door, down the staircase, and landing in a perfectly placed cake, during her seven year old sons birthday party. James D.
I'm actually going to write a more traditional, non-spoiler review of the latest film, which allows me to post the ridiculously huge plot hole here. Beware, this gives away the end of the movie if you still want to go see it: Tony Todd's character tells the latest gang of victims that he has seen this kind of thing happen before--a group of people escape certain doom and then, one by one, they die afterwards. At the end of the movie, Sam and Molly are on an airplane headed for Paris--Flight 180. The VERY SAME plane from the original Final Destination and we see Sam's ticket says "20 May 2000" and sure enough, we see Devon Sawa going nuts and getting kicked off in the foreground. Minutes later, the plane explodes and Sam and Molly die. Here's the problem--all of the events of FD2 through FD4 took place YEARS after the plane crash, so how the fuck did Tony Todd see this shit happen before? Missy
I get what you're saying. His words imply one thing, if only to hide the twist ending. However, could other events like those in the series have happened before the first Final Destination movie?

However, could other events like those in the series have happened before the first Final Destination movie? If that's the case, then why in the original movie were these supposed previous horrific disasters never mentioned? In FD2 and FD3 they talk about Flight 180. If this kind of thing happened before even that, wouldn't someone have said something? This will probably end up being some kind of Saw-like retcon in FD6 and FD7, but they certainly made it seem like Tony Todd's character was alluding to the past several movies' events. Missy
Good point. I didn't think of it that way.
Guest
By the second movie, Tony Todd's character was already the go-to guy for info on Death, mainly because it's implied that he IS Death. Either way, at no point do they say that the first Final Destination movie was the very first time the plan had to be changed, and considering the thousands of years of human history, it wouldn't even be close. Lacking foresight for a series that didn't know it'd still be happening 11 years later, sure, but far from a gigantic plothole.
James D.
I want it to be known that I think this one was miles better than FD4, which, frankly, was just a dumpster fire of stupid. In this one, they actually seemed to be trying to have a plot around all of the ridiculous gore. Doesn't mean I liked the flick, but it would probably be in the middle of the chain in terms of the movies so far: Final Destination Final Destination 2 Final Destination 5 Final Destination 3 The Final Destination I don't want to say much more because I'm trying to write up my thoughts on it presently. S-T
Just got back from Final Destination 5. I was not impressed with the 3-D at all. It looked like transparencies on top of each other. It was distracting. It looked really fake. Certainly not worth the extra $3. The only reason I saw it in 3-D is because a 2-D version was not available.
