New TMNT Cartoon in 2012

Recommended Posts

Nickelodeon has announced that its new 26-episode Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series will debut in the fourth quarter of 2012. The cable channel paid $60 million for worldwide rights to the TMNT franchise. Once the new computer-animated cartoon series debuts, Nickelodeon plans to help reintroduce a range of TMNT toys into the marketplace. Paramount, like Nickelodeon a member of the Viacom family, has a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles feature film in development.

Ciro Nieli, an executive producer of the new TMNT series, told the Wall Street Journal that the new series would be different from previous incarnations of the Turtles. The four human/turtle hybrids with the names of Renaissance masters will be distinguished by more than just different colored by bandannas. Nieli also told the Journal that the new series would put even more stress on the Turtles’ martial arts abilities.

I am cautiously optimistic. Rob Paulsen did tell me that he'll be voicing Donatello. I like the designs from what I've seen but the eyes look too anime influenced.

Love the art style. The theme song is... eh...

I generally don't like generic rap for cartoons' theme songs. Generic rock, sure. But I can't stand generic rap.

Oh, the rap is fucking silly as fuck. The art style though is pretty nice. It's stylized. I can't wait to see an actual episode so I can get a good idea on my feelings about it.

The show is pretty cool, actually. Give it a watch, guys.

I am. The turtles look great, the human look terrible though. I like the theme song, well the part where they sing "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" but yeah, it's not bad.

Oh, and welcome to the forums Stratofarius!

I like the show too. It's interesting how it seems to be more of a remake of the original animated series, unlike the 2003 series which was more based on the comics. But yeah, it's good stuff. I really love Mikey in this one.

The only thing that annoys me is Michelangelo.

I know he's supposed to be comic relief, but I think we've hit the age where you don't need to be an idiot to be a comic relief character.

I think the thing is that he's a lovable idiot instead of a maddening idiot. And it could be said that he's more perceptive in some ways than the others.

So, 18 episodes have aired so far, is anyone else still watching?

I am, and I think it's great, a fun show, and mixes action, comedy and character development just right. The humans still look weird, but they're rarely in it, so that's a minor complaint at best.

And can the name of this thread be changed from New TMNT cartoon in 2012, to TMNT 2012, or something similar, seeing as the show has now aired, and has three series already commissioned.

I started watching it when it began and loved it; I just fell behind and haven't had time to catch up yet. Hopefully my schedule will clear up soon and I can get into it again.

I think this weekend's episode may be the corner from where it turns from fun show to absolutely fantastic show. The whole plot with Kirai tracking down April and that fight in the alley was fucking awesome.
