Daredevil reboot

If I were a ninja, I'd just go around and selectively sabotage all of Fox's superhero movie projects so they couldn't get one out before the rights reverted to Disney.

The thing is, Fantastic Four and X-Men are pretty well off and have a few years before they would revert back. I'm just worried that we're going to get the equivalent of Roger Corman's Fantastic Four for Daredevil just so Fox can keep the license.

I hope Fox just look at the numbers and let it go. Is it worth shelling out 20 million just to stop Daredevil getting in on the Avengers mix?

While Twentieth Century Fox and Marvel Studios have not released a statement, it looks to be official. The Daredevil movie rights are reverting to Disney/Marvel Studios after Fox's extension request was rejected, says Variety. Fox was supposed to have the reboot in production by October 10th.

The news comes after director Joe Carnahan's tweets last night that said his "idea for a certain retro, red-suited, Serpico-styled superhero went up in smoke today kids."

Carnahan continued talking about the film today on Twitter and asked if fans wanted to see his sizzle piece that he presented to Fox. He said, "DD pitch was tremendous and everyone flipped for it. The clock ticked down at Fox, that's why it went t*ts up."

He posted two versions of the sizzle piece, an NC-17 and a PG-13 version, and you can watch both below.

This is big. Not only does it get daredevil into the Avengers line, it gives Fox a wake up call about the other properties they currently have the rights to. Fantastic Four is the next one up I believe. It's been 6 years since production on the last one, and they had Daredevil for 10 years with no sequel. That means by 2016 there will have to be another FF movie made or it goes back.

Out of curiosity, where does Elektra fit into all this? Not just the character, but didn't the production of that (rather poor) film extend the amount of time Fox had?

Not too fussed either way. Mavel get to use Daredevil, although I don't see him fitting into an Avengers movie. At best, one of the Avengers would cameo in a Daredevil film.

Great. Carnahan can edit together a bunch of movies that are better than anything he's ever done to compose a completely asymmetrical fake trailer.

Why doesn't he worry about directing a movie that doesn't suck, which is something he hasn't done in ten years.

Now that I've seen The Grey, this is disappointing.

Uh...what?

I would like to see them try a weekly legal/superhero TV drama. Be an interesting and wholly appropriate take on the character

I know we were all ragging on Joe Carnahan's sizzle reel, but based on The Grey, I think he could have made a great Daredevil film. Now it'll be another movie off the Marvel Studios assembly line.
