E3 2011

E3 is June 7-9 and is going to be a big one this year.

Nintendo- It's going to be all about their new console and new Zelda: Skyward Sword game.

Sony- I don't know what they are going to do after the PSN hack story that won't go away, but I can't wait to see them nervously laugh about it on stage. Anytime they mention PSN that's all anyone is going to think about.

Microsoft- They've been so quiet lately, it kind of scares me. They must have something huge coming.

Missed the first half of the MS briefing thanks to a power outage, but I'm watching the Kinect stuff now. There is some incredible stuff, but nothing hardcore gamers care about. One thing they showed was Kinect Labs(?) and it's available today to everyone.

Halo 4 coming Fall 2012.

EA event is up next. You can watch it on Spike TV.

MS showed a lot of stuff I didn't get to see, like Fable using Kinect, Modern Warfare 3, and Mass Effect 3. I saw MW3 and it looks incredible, but it's Modern Warfare so it'll be the same game again. Fable Kinect looks like a tech demo.

Watching Ubisoft's conference on G4. Too many French accents.....Must...stay...focused.

Inglorious Bast...I mean the new Band of Brothers is like the Village People go to war. There is an Indian, a redneck, a giant farm boy, and a Scotsman.

If it wasn't for Assassin's Creed: Revelations it would have been a crappy conference. It looked great.

I don't want any part of Rayman or the new Ghost Recon.

The Sony show is about to start on G4. You can also stream it here.

Ugh, Sony is pushing 3D tvs at E3 now.

They are also shoe-horning Move into every game they can. There is no way I'm playing NBA 2K12 with Move.

When they announced the PSVita would be using AT&T exclusively the crowd booed and laughed. Not a good sign Sony.

Nintendo press briefing going on now.

They've spent 15 minutes talking about Zelda's music.

After seeing Vita games it's hard to take 3DS games seriously. The visuals look so bad in comparison.

The new system is called the Wii U. The controller looks like a very Apple-like tablet with buttons. I'm pretty underwhelmed.

I'm conflicted on the Wii U. The ways they've found to utilize the controller/TV relationship are certainly imaginative, but they're so new that it's hard to tell how well they'll actually work.

The fact that a ton of hardcore (and mature) games are coming to it, though, like Darksiders II, Assassin's Creed, and Arkham City, is certainly cool. The fact that gamers won't have to choose between Nintendo first-party games and 3rd-party games is a welcome change.

Nah. This wasn't a screw-up. I'm still excited to see it. Were the console coming out this year, it'd be a pretty crappy conference. But considering that we're at least a year away from the console's release, it's fine. It was basically just "Hey, this is what our console is. By the way, we're gonna be getting major 3rd-party games on the same level as the 360 and PS3. More on that next year."
