KnightWing
It's a reimagining of Cassandra Nova, who actually was a twin sibling of Xavier's who was telepathically killed pre-birth. But even she wasn't kept around as a growing body for half a century. (her dead body spontaneously regenerated in a sewer through mega-telepathy, but somehow that makes more sense?) James D.
Is there a movie series/franchise in all of existence that is more FUBAR'ed from a continuity standpoint than X-Men?
Guest
Highlander.
dc20willsave
I'll second Dubs there. The entire central theme of the first film is defeated by all the sequels as well as the TV series which has to be in continuity due to the fourth film. It's like a double decker FUBAR sandwich with a side of FUBAR fries. That said, yeah, X-men is definitely second and its going to be hilarious seeing them try to justify the way they try to bridge continuity. Dread
This thread has veered treacherously close to insulting the Highlander TV series. I would urge you all to tread lightly.
dc20willsave
Oh, I'm not. I'm mainly saying that this is one of those franchises that you need a chart to figure out how exactly the continuity works.
Missy
There's a podcast segment somewhere in there: the most fucked up movie / TV continuities. Off the top of my head, there's the X-Men movies (including the Wolverine spin-offs), Highlander (including the TV show), Terminator (again with the TV show), Universal Soldier, and Transformers (which DW outlined wonderfully). James D.
Haha, how did I of all people forget Highlander?
JackFetch
"There can be only one" should have meant movies in the franchise.
Stavros
That podcast segment could probably cover Star Trek an what George Lucas did to Star Wars too.

JackFetch
I'm glad they aren't making them as big as the comics. It would turn into Pacific Rim vs X-Men.
Professor
I fail to see how that would not be the greatest thing ever.

JackFetch
According to a an onset source for the New York Daily News, Halle Berry's (Ororo Munroe/Storm)X-Men: Days of Future Past screen time has been whittled down one scene. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/nailbiter111/news/?a=96150 That's two Academy Award winners that have been almost cut out of the movie entirely. Molly
You say that, but Academy Award winner or not Halle Berry brought almost nothing to the first three films. Anna Panquin did more, but I don't think the film will suffer without her, either.
JackFetch
They are blaming it on her pregnancy. I don't buy it. They knew she was pregnant when they filmed it, and they could have wrote it into the story.
KnightWing
It seems pretty clear at this point that the "modern" X-Men are mostly only going to be in the future scenes of the movie, and that that'll only be a few scenes. This is basically a First Class sequel with Wolverine, not the epic Avengers-style teamup of the old and new X-Men.
SuaveStar
Reading all this stuff, makes me really look forward to renting the super special edition blu-ray, that'll probably be four hours long, and add so many extra layers to the film. Like the true meaning of the theatrically deleted scene where Wolverine sneezes, and Kitty Pryde says "Bless you".
