Intermission 02: Superman songs

After announcing a short hiatus for the boys, Desmond thought it wouldn't be prudent to leave you guys podcastless when there's perfectly good audio sitting around the Dropped D compound! So, presented for your approval, a piece of audio first published this past April as part of Earth-2.net: The Show's episode 500 celebration of all that is Superman. Desmond and Damien break format to do an interesting survey of eight songs featuring Superman in title or content. Hear Desmond's unceasing frustration at this barrage of 90s buffoonery. More importantly, this is where the Spin Doctors nonsense really got legs. Please be patient for a new show soon! [ 1:05:27 || 31.7 MB ]

Hey Guys,

Hope the hiatus doesnt last too long, but I am glad I got to listen to the old Superman themed episode. Mostly, because it answered 2 16 year old questions I had. Back in 96, a 14 year old me got a chance to go to EdenFest in Ontario Canada. It was actually a pretty great event with bands like: Stabbing Westward, Gravity Killks, Porno for Pyros, Live, Muse (not sure if it was the same one thats around now a days), Bush (X), The Tragically Hip, ... and... the Spin Doctors... no joke and a bunch of other bands. So of all these bands, back then, I was really looking forward to seeing Bush but was saddend when I found out that it was actually going to be a band called Bush X. Which turned out to be Bush afterall and now I know why. But 14 year old me was very confused. The next question I had was why do all Canadians love The Tragically Hip. At the event, all we kept on hearing was all the locals going on and on about how excited they were to see them. I figured I'd check out their set and give them a chance and it didnt go that well. My friends and I renamed them, The Tragically Lame (which was very clever to a bunch of 14 year olds.) So I am very glad to finally hear that no, not all Canadians love that band.

Thats all I've got for now. Hope to hear some NIN episodes soon. Keep up the good work.

PS. I also wanted to add that mosh pits in Canada are great. I remember anytime someone went down the entire place stopped to help the person up and make sure they were ok, unlike the local shows I always went to in NYC where you would just get trampled.
