JackFetch
Disney’s Guardians of the Galaxy was the top-grossing film of the weekend, beating out a trio of new releases—and in the process, becoming the No. 3 movie of the year and the highest earner of the summer with nearly $252 million. http://insidemovies.ew.com/2014/08/24/guardians-galaxy-box-office-report/ It's on track to be the highest grossing movie of the year in the US. Can someone explain to me why this movie didn't make the impact overseas that Captain America Winter Soldier did? Is it just because Cap is a known franchise? MaxPower
I know here in Melbourne, Winter Soldier had a lot more marketing spend than Guardians, A LOT more.
Koete
Maybe there are some markets it hasn't opened in yet? Otherwise, yeah, probably because it doesn't have the same degree of franchise identification.
