JackFetch
Chris McCoy is being tapped to rewrite Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel Studios’ space adventure movie. While he has yet to achieve a produced credit, McCoy is considered to have a lot of heat as a writer. The scribe has had three of his specs land on the Black List: Get Back in 2007, Good Looking in 2009 and Good Kids in 2011. His scripts have been praised for their quirky comedic bent. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/black-list-guardians-of-the-galaxy-marvel-357868 Quirky comedic bent is exactly what this movie needs. It's got a raccoon with guns .
JackFetch
The plot may have been revealed. About a U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants. Davedevil
James Gunn, director of "Super", might direct this. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/james-gunn-marvel-guardians-of-the-galaxy-363928

JackFetch
Super wasn't a bad movie, but damn was it dark at times.

Stavros
It would be hilarious if the dude who played Cyclops became better known for playing Star Lord of all people.
JackFetch
Last month, news broke of a short list of five actors in contention for the leading role of Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord) in James Gunn's upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy. Today, Variety offers an update that claims the list has shrunk to two names: Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas) and Zachary Levi ("Chuck"). Levi, who is already set to appear in the Marvel cinematic universe as Fandral in the upcoming Thor: The Dark World, did not appear on the original short list. Quite arguably Marvel Studios' most offbeat property to date, Guardians of the Galaxy's roster is also said to include Drax the Destroyer, Groot, Rocket Racoon and Gamora. Check back for casting details on those roles as they emerge. http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/174199-guardians-of-the-galaxy-lead-allegedly-down-to-two-names
Stavros
Sturgess has movie star written all over him, and whilst I've nothing against Levi I think it's fairly important to get someone who is principally a movie star rather than a TV star. KnightWing
I thought Zack Levi was already Fandral in Thor 2?
JackFetch
He is, but Fandral is not going to be in the Avengers movies.
dc20willsave
Chris Pratt (Andy on Parks and Rec, also in Thirty Dark Zero) has been cast as Star-Lord. Fucking A!
JackFetch
I never would have even thought of him. Doing a quick Google image search shows that he is ripped like a superhero now, so I guess I'll reserve judgement.
dc20willsave
You can't tell it from the last couple of episodes of Parks and Rec but yeah, guy definitely went on a diet for Zero Black Thirty.
Dan
Burt Macklin AND I Am Groot AND Rocket Motherfucking Raccoon? Take my money!

JackFetch
The Director said the movie will take place in another galaxy.
Stavros
But they're the Guardians of THIS one surely? Andy should be awesome in the role if I can see past his role as Andy. I might spend the entire movie watching Bert Macklin- Space Adventurer.
JackFetch
Nova Corps are in the movie, and Nova himself might be in it.
Missy
Fuck yeah! Though, it'll probably be the new Nova, Sam Alexander, and not Richard Rider.

dc20willsave
He's certainly physically imposing and he was fun enough in The Man with the Iron Fists. I'm willing to give him a shot.
JackFetch
It will be heavy CGI so it's not like he has to do much acting. It'll be him fighting, which he can do.
