That said, great episode and I echo the disappointment in Mike no longer having opportunities to talk about enjoying Dick. As for the animation on Static, it does get better later on, especially from Season 3 on. It is the first season so animation errors are to be expected. I know they did an episode on guns in schools, but I can't remember if they handled it as well. Edit: Judging by the description on Wikipedia, I think they did. grahamvidger Posted July 25, 2009 Report Share Posted July 25, 2009 Specs and Trapper in "The New Kid" remind of Dr. Kidd and Mr. Wint in the James Bond movie Diamonds Are Forever. Something kind of interesting is that Michael Rosenbaum voices Trapper. Just noticed that there is literally a part in "Bent Out Of Shape" where Stringer (Rubberband man) is floating for six seconds. Stringer does his ball shape and jumps up then Puff talks for a tiny bit then she blows him with her gas attack all in like six seconds, and RubberBand Man didn't even jump that high. KnightWing Posted August 4, 2009 Report Share Posted August 4, 2009 Plus Macs are actually built for podcasting. No joke, they seriously are. Part of the software they ship with is actually designed for podcast recording/editing, and they even have video tutorials about how to use all the features. The storage space is the only real concern, as every other feature is better. Even other PCs with the same types of processors will run slower because the Mac OS is specifically designed to take advantage of the hardware and vice-versa. They run like a dream, and crashes are practically non-existent. The only thing they don't do is gaming, not because they can't do it, but because hardly anyone makes games for Macs. If you're looking for a computer to podcast with, a Mac is undoubtedly the best option. (especially since you already have external drives) I'm not a Mac drone; I've actually built two PCs and I love them. However, Macs just work better, especially for audio/video editing. I once put together a 30-second music video on a PC and it took eight hours. I re-edited that same video back together on a Mac in only one. However, it comes down to three things: 01. Storage space. Sure, I can utilize my external hard drives, but they're already pushing capacity. 02. Software. All of my current software is PC-specific. I know modern Macs can run Windows (and thus my software), but that means I have to buy Windows. 03. Affordability. I can't even afford a $500-600 PC, hence the recent call for donations. If I reach that goal I'll be lucky. So getting to $1000 (for a MacBook) or $1200 (for a MacBook Pro or an iMac) doesn't seem possible. EDIT: I see the current iMacs come with a 320 GB hard drive, so forget what I said about storage. I have my brain on laptops, so I was thinking about the 160 GB hard drive of the MacBook Pro. I once tried to do some tech support for a family I know, only to discover that their AT&T router/modem was actually preventing me from fixing their settings. Verizon is supposed to be pretty amazing, though. I'll probably switch to that service when they bring it to my area. If I get a new PC, it will probably be a laptop. If I get a Mac, it will be an iMac. That's funny; that's the exact opposite of what I'd do. Desktop PCs (especially if home-built) are so easy to repair and upgrade that they're well worth the investment, but PC laptops break easily and then cost you hundreds of dollars in repairs or replacements. At this point, affordable PC laptops aren't worth crap, but will cost you at least double their initial price within four years. Desktop is probably a better option for you, then. An iMac should be pretty great. EDIT: Man, ten years ago, who would have thought we'd be saying great things about Macs? This is kind of bizarre... grahamvidger Posted August 8, 2009 Report Share Posted August 8, 2009 Mike, with all the work you put your computer through, I suggest switching to Mac. If you have an external drive you can hook it up to a Mac and run Time Machine, Time Machine is awesome. Remember when you lost that edited recording of episode 58? With Time Machine you would of been able to find that file easily. And Macs have good podcasting softwares too.
